Monday Oct 9th is celebrated as Columbus Day. He was a great explorer and was a key figure in the discovery of what was known as 'the New World"
I will have to work on that day. I miss working at a college when we had all the half baked holidays off

no, but I'm taking the day off to celebrate. And I'll be celebrating 10x as hard now that true history, Mr. Columbus as a straight white male, and every other traditional holiday are under attack from the leftists desperate to re-write history to fit their bs narrative.
Imagine being so stupid that you blame Columbus for intentionally spreading germs to the natives of America, when it wasn't until 1861 that Louis Pasteur published Germ Theory, proving the link between bacteria and disease. Until these findings, nobody knew about germs and how they spread and affected human health.
For the uninformed, it was in 1492 when Columbus made his famed landing. So, either he was a damn mega-mind and understood germs 369 years earlier than the world's best scientists, or leftists are full of shit and attacking another innocent man. Get wrecked, leftists. 🤣
Yes, this truly will be a day to celebrate and reflect on our nation's great history. Sorry you'll have to work, but you can still try to have fun on that day to celebrate.
Sort of, house husbands vacation every day, even when we are working.
Lets face it, Columbus didn't get a day off either... We'll, except for when his two ships sank and he sat there a bit dismayed... probably took a day off to re-think.
so maybe we should have a "ships sinking" day instead? That be very fitting given our debt levels...
It's funny how a country normally associated with far-right extremism was discovered by a black Italian who not only introduced pizza to the natives but brought the concept of multigenderism to the new land
Yeah!! 3 day weekend! I will celebrate by having Indian food. 😂
Thanks to him, now I don’t have to travel to India to get authentic Indian food.

Nope but not because of that, because I have every Monday off lol
Yup. I'll be cooking and cleaning all day (same as usual).
I am self employed. I don’t “have to” work but I don’t make money when I don’t work.
Yes I do. Unless I get off from work then it is not a real holiday. I don't get off Martin Luther King Day either. I don't get off Election Day.
I am aware banks and government employees get off for every little day on the calendar.
Columbus Day is not a holiday for me. Then again, my American company is owned by the French, and I'm not sure they know who the Italian Columbus who sailed for Spain is, or even care.
He was anything but a great explorer, and no, I will never celebrate Columbus Day.
Yeppers, it's fire prevention week so we go to schools and day care centers.
It's fun.
I always work on little holidays. Actually, sometimes I work on major holidays if I get an emergency service call.
Columbus was a colonizer and a murderer.
@exitseven
Yes. He changed history of world.
It would be probably discovered later anyway by someone. In that period of time every kingdom wanted to expand. It would be probably colonised as well, if not by white people, then by Asians or someone else. Such vast and rich mass of land would not be just left there to waste. If USA was not formed it would be later hard for free world to survive during WW II and Cold War as there would not be counterbalance.
I do have to work that day.
yep I will
Yup lol
