My sales record would say A but I would say my social skills are bad I was just honest and thats why I sold I guessš
I'm definitely going with B. Even though IQ is overratted and I would much rather have higher EQ than IQ...

I went for āequalā because Iām pretty smart, not necessarily math in particular, but other aspects of academics I can graspā¦. if I choose to apply myself, lmao, thatās the big X-factor.
But if you mean specific to math, Iād change my answer to āsocial skillsā, because I can be very outgoing, people seem to like me, I like to think Iām pretty charming, Iām very politeā¦. I can grease people, if weāre talking about occupational skills. Like I should be in sales, not engineering, certainly in terms of current qualifications, lmao, but I think also in spirit, despite my belief in my capability to succeed in engineering. I just donāt have the āwant-toā for it.
Alright well social skills are very important! Am glad you have good confidence in yourself too tho
Although I was offered a Mensa membership as a teenager I've always trusted my gut instinct over working things out rationally. Ironically I trusted my gut to answer the question on the test that got me the offer 🤣🤣
Don't get me wrong. Like most of Gen-X I'm feral. My social skills range equally from the grunt of a UFC fighter to interaction with the Hereditary Peerage in England - and I've done both. I'm just more comfortable on my own at the end of the day, but I can and have entertained both extremes.
Note: "have" not "do". I'm not certain that after 20 years in South Africa I'd be up to a garden party with the Peerage any more. I prefer Real people, not plastic ones.
I like the way you think! Great answer!
šš
Unfortunately, math and patterns... But it gave me the job I love so I don't complain
Thats good. What do you do?:)
I'm a software engineer :D
Oh nice! Kinda rare with women in that field! š
yeah... most of my 20+ years of professional experience I was the only female among software engineers. I remember three companies where I met other women in this position :D
Wow! Yeah what made you choose the career?š
coincidence :D
I was hired in the online advertising department, but when I needed an online page or a form for my job no one had time for me, so I started to learn it by myself... and 1.5 years later I switched to my first programming job :P
Wow thats great! You did that yourself with an online course?
there were no online courses at that time :D it was more like annoying other programmers by asking countless stupid questions and long hours spent trying and failing :D
Oh wow.. am glad you found your own way thenš
Social skills for sure. I've always been extremely social.

I guess social skills. I have a sales background as well that was dependent on relationship building and honestly always helped me too. I find it easier to be honest and lose legitimately because of the truth here and there so that long term you can be successful.
When I'm typically out with friends I seem to be the person that starts conversation and finds ways to involve everyone without making it uncomfortable. I find it funny how people don't know what to talk about at times. Maybe they're shy or just not outgoing but I take comfort in conversing with people in a way that they're comfortable.
Regarding math and patterns I'm ok with them. I think my IQ is 124 or 126. I took a test when I was in school a while back. I know it was in the 120s but def not 130. Funny enough I forgot the number lol. I agree with you about EQ especially nowadays. I've taken a few EQ courses that I thought were great.
Yeah. I did the same thing with selling. Everyone were too consern about sounding like a "sales person" which people saw thruogh. Its better to just speak normal lol.
And im glad you help others with your social skills. Your IQ is clearly higher than avarage but like you said EQ is way more important.
What did you learn at those courses?
Thanks. Yeah EQ is definitely more important for every day interactions. Being able to see patterns in shapes don't help you when you're in public. (Or maybe they do but since I'm not a genius I can't figure out how lol). I remet learning about empathy, self control, staying positive in regards to assume the best instead of the worst. Stuff like that. It wasn't stuff we shouldn't already know but it kind of reminds you to think before you talk. The thinking before talking wasn't said literally in the course but that's what I took away.
Am I perfect and always emotionally intelligent? Yes... Lol. No of course not. I try to catch myself if I'm not leading with empathy or if I feel like I'm losing control of my emotions but I am human and not perfect.
Thats great! Am glad you took that from the class:) you seam very intelligent, within the good areas lol!
I think I would take course like that too some say. Where did you find it?
My company offered it for free. We have access to a lot if e-learning through premium content providers. The class I took was virtual.
I'm sometimes intelligent lol. My favorite stupid moments are really awesome. I remember forgetting how to spell my middle name, not understanding why I wasn't hungry for lunch (because I already ate my lunch and forgot), and my personal favorite... losing my mind when I couldn't find my keys... and yup they were in my hand hahaha
Thats great!
And yeah I think everyone looses their keys sometimes but in your hands lol thats next level š
but thats what stress does. It makes you blind..
I never went from screaming to laughing so hard so quickly. You got to laugh at yourself
Haha yeah you do
I'm not the greatest at either. I have decent social skills, but I don't really have any consistent proven track record with sales. And while I used to be considered naturally good at math when I was younger, at my current age, I would say there's many people in math related jobs that can easily do it better than myself. Hell, I've completely forgotten how to do algebra and calc... it's useless to me. I'm still pretty good at finding patterns in things though... above average in that aspect.
Yeah seams like you have the good parts of both sides then!
And I dont use algebra eitherš
I am very good with math being a theoretical physicist. As far as I remember, I completed high school-level calculus in one day and could solve any integral just by seeing them. But as you climb the academic ladder, your math too gets complicated, so I too struggle.
Now social skills can be tricky. I am an excellent speaker, can take classes, and can speak in public. I have helped friends sell magazines door to door. But mostly I am an introvert and don't like everyone too much. Plus I am somewhat shy when it comes to girls.
Well congrats on your gifts.
Well for me those were never that much of a gift, they were always a curse. I also have kinda eidetic memory and it's only fun on paper. If you have trauma, you will feel like that happened yesterday and nothing can cure it. A lot of teachers and friends will deeply hate you. Friendship will hardly last, Professors will try to steal your work. Everyone will just want to take advantage of you... and so much more...
Yeah im not suprized I agree... its a curse. I much rather be good with social skills than IQ but eh. You are what you are. can't change:)
OK. I did a pattern matching test when 10 -12 and was given the same test 5 years later and could remember the 2% I had difficulty with and got 100% on the second go. So pattern matching.
Nice
šš
recognizing patterns was both, a gift and a curse I was born with...
my social skills were something that I've had to develop through life... and, based on the current circumstances I'd say that's been going well so far... lol
now that's just my every day, a balance of both in most aspects of life
Social skills are just okay. I can actually end up overanalyzing things and I do see patterns a lot more frequently. Sometimes I know the moment a person enters in room what their intentions are 😅.
I could see that:)
haha
I work in IT and spend a lot of time trouble shooting complex systems.
So B:)
Patterns in objects, math, music, MacGyvering "inventions" around the house.
Same
I'm very social but also fairly decent at chess, so a bit of both.
Nice!
Everytime I look fast past your profile pic I see a manga facešš so weird lol
