The way to succeed is to learn the rules and then learn when to break them. Learn the system and then use the system.
My cousin told me it's impossible to get A's in every class because instructors are pressured to grade on a curve, meaning there are limits to how many A's they can give out so a level of self arbitration is involved in the marking process, and you don't have full control over where you stand in their priority list, since each professor has a different bias and value system.
The way I got A's in every class is I researched my graders.
I know that one grader likes it when you give theories and creative inversions of typical dialect so as to showcase conversational flexibility, so I did that and he gave me an A.
I know another professor likes it when you saturate yourself in the teachings he shares with you rather than involving outside sources so I used only the course readings for my papers and got an A.
I know another professor likes it when you explore foreign ideas with a level of reverence and esteem so I used deep reverential language in my writing and got an A.
I know another professor likes simplicity that he can mark in 3 minutes so I used simplicity in my paper and he gave me the highest grade in the class.

Here are some suggestions for being successful in classes:
- Make sure to pay attention and take good notes during lectures and classes. Don't just zone out or be on your phone.
- Sit towards the front so you're more engaged and the teacher can see if you need help. Less distracting too.
- Do all the assigned reading and homework. Even if it's boring, get it out of the way so you're prepared.
- Form a study group with other classmates, especially before tests. Quizzing each other on flashcards is super helpful.
- Talk to teachers if you don't understand something. They want you to succeed and will help explain stuff again.
- Review your notes every day, not just before exams. It helps stuff stick better in your brain.
- Try to get enough sleep and eat healthy. It'll be hard to focus if you're exhausted and sluggish.
- Manage your time well between school, work if you have a job, and free time. Don't procrastinate!
- Believe in yourself! Having confidence that you can do well makes a difference. Just focus and you got this.
Let me know if any of those tips help or if you need advice on specific subjects. You're gonna crush it this semester!
