Name a more dangerous job then a trash collector?

Fishing boats in Alaska
Farming
Logging
Working the oil fields
Roofers and framers
Tree trimmers
Mining
Astronaut - about one out of 20 have been killed.
Tops on the list is US President - One out of 11.5 have been assassinated.
I think the highest mortality rate was truck driver, wasn't it?
There were different studies but one I read was logging workers number 1
@coachTanthony. "Truck driver" is too broad of a category. The most dangerous job in the U. S. by far is petroleum tanker driver.
soldier
emt

Most so-called dangerous jobs aren't that dangerous because they have a shit load of safety procedures and regulations in place. People often say working with animals because they're unpredictable but that's nonsense because you have to assume they'll gore you to death. People on the other hand are unpredictable so I'm saying anything involving working with the public.
Being one of those guys who literally walks up the cables of high suspension bridges, like the Golden Gate Bridge or the Verrazano Bridge, and paints the cables! All you have is a thin cable to serve as a "railing" on either side, but the bridge and the cables can sway a lot in the wind! And it's a LONG way down! I think I'll take a pass on that one, thanks, no matter how much they pay!
Why is collecting trash dangerous except for dumpster divers? Most trash trucks the driver doesn't even have to get out of the truck?
They get hit by cars
Not if they never have to get out.
Very rare most get out like the photo above
@daniela1982. The guys outside of the truck are called "Jumpers" and they aren't drivers.
Ocean oil rig folks, corrections officer, them folks that work inside sewage systems, a drug dealer, anyone stationed in Antarctica for any reason, deep ocean divers, human smugglers, firefighters, cooks (drugs)
I think it's more dangerous to be the trash :p
My first thing that comes to mind is firefighters.
Never realized that sitting in the cab of a special made truck which comes along, stops in front of your house; driver pushes a few levers and mechanical devices take over by picking up trash can and dumping in it back of truck; all in the time it takes that driver to have a donut and few sips of coffee before heading to next home.
Very rare most get out like the photo
Where the heck to you live?
I live where trash collectors get out of the truck and grab the cans themselves... city living all over the country is like that. They turn the corner and bam get hit by a car.
Well I can tell you Sarasota, Tampa, Ft Lauderdale, and other area waste is not picked up by hand any longer.
I am not saying it isn't and that what you are saying doesn't exist. It's just not the norm. This is why Trash collectors went from being number 1 on the list for most dangerous to 6 because of implementation of what you are saying.
Here are the facts coach as shown on an easy Google search; 30% of garbage in the US is now picked up with automatic loading trucks with the trend expanding rapidly!!! Big advantage is that the waste management companies profit is much better with just one guy instead of two or three on a truck. NEWS FLASH; Coming soon to your neighborhood new self picking garbage trucks.
Soon the trucks will run themselves like you see the robots in the grocery stores. I understand it's all coming but for now trash collectors are still in the top ten most dangerous jobs. Lets hope it changes sooner than later
Imagine when there is no human in that vehicle how many bystanders will end up in the garbage bin or how many oops cars will end up smashed when it gets a mind of its own. LOL Take care have a good day
I was thinking a Racing Car driver, army reserve (seeing as they have to go to war on nothing more than basic training) or bomb disposal units, but then I thought, how many people who have worked for Trump in the past have ended up in trouble?
Working as a firefighter or in the military can be more dangerous than being a trash collector. Both involve significant risks to personal safety, often in high-pressure and unpredictable situations.
