"How often do you think about the Roman Empire" is a popular question these days. Can you recommend any good books about it?
And on that note, how often do you think about the Roman Empire anyway?

I’ve walked and biked Hadrians wall, there are a number of forts there, Housteads, Vindalanda, Chester.
Been on a couple of digs while at University.
There are some good books on Julius Caesar, also one that compares him with Alexander.

It's a holistic view of history not just roman but it's AMAZING. William McNeil's "Rise of the West". Even as a teacher I never gave any promenance to Greece/Rome (The advanced placement classes look to avoid eurocentrism). Persia, India & China were much more advanced and interesting IMHO
I do like pizza...
Bible
clever! in the reign of augustus, in the reign of tiberius. loved that.
@strateguy632 I like the story of David and Goliath, Moses taking the Israelites out of Egypt, Jonah getting swallowed by the big fish and then it spits him back up on the beach three days later. Joshua and the Battle of Jericho. Joseph and his brothers, but the best story is the story of the life teaching betrayal death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ
