That is an accomplishment; great job!

    1. Avoid student loans. It's better to take longer to get through college than to get into debt.

    2. Consider doing your first two years at a community college getting a transfer degree. It will save you a ton of money in both tuition and housing costs. Then finish at a university.

    3. If you aren't doing STEM, learn solid business, networking and financial skills. If you do pursue a trade, it will benefit you to know how to plan for and develop a business.

    4. Make avoiding debt a rule. A credit card is fine if you pay it off monthly and building good credit will allow you to qualify to buy a home eventually. Learn to budget simply and make sure you plan for some fun things, too.

    5. Open a retirement account as soon as possible and put a little bit in every month. Begin maxing it out when you are able to.

    6. Prioritize your health, mental and physical. Stay active, drink water, eat simple nutritious food.

    7. Keep an eye out for two or three good mentors in a couple different areas (emotional support and encouragement, career counsel and networking, practical areas, etc.).

    8. Learn how to handle criticism and ask good questions. Learn to distinguish between opinions that matter and ones that don't.

    9. Don't go for the most beautiful girl or the most intelligent one. Go for the one that wants to build a legacy with you and has good relationships with a variety of quality people in her life. Go for the one who has the capacity to learn and to forgive.

    10. Pursue meaningful activity, productive work, and quality friends, not things and status. Volunteer, travel, build strong friendships, and avoid acquiring a lot of possessions.

And one last thing: Life will happen. Hard, difficult and painful things will happen. You will probably experience a broken heart. But know that you can get to the other side when those things happen, and you will have proven that you can overcome. The purpose of life is not to avoid brokenness and suffering, or to deny that it exists, but to allow it to make us better when it comes our way.

My cousin is a plumber by trade. He is living high on the hog. Go to a trade school. Learn to be an electrician. Electricity is fascinating. There once was a battle between the DC and AC folks. So the DC folks used an AC current to kill an elephant. So the AC folks used DC to kill another elephant. I'm certainly not advocating the killing of elephants, but AC won. Your TV is plugged in to AC. Your phone is also plugged in to AC, but there's a converter that changes it to DC.

I bought a solar panel. It's about 12 square inches. On a good day, it can light a single Christmas bulb. That's it. People who think that wind and solar are the answer, are delusional. It won't work.

Where I used to work we had a shop that had sewing machines with DC. Motors. I used to replace the brushes in them. The building was ancient and still had DC service for the elevator.

Electricity is awesome, but aa you say, AC can be transmitted over long distances, and DC can not. I was in the Apple store a few days ago, and I learned that iPhones have transformers in them, so if you wanted to, you can buy a wireless charger.

Make sure you attend classes. The temptation to play video games all day (or whatever) every once in a while will eat at your progress. No matter how easy a class appears for some stretch of time, it is critical not to develop a habit of not going for when the class gets more difficult.

Also, get your homework done early. Weekends are far easier to enjoy if you don't have to worry about getting work done. Plus, inviting people to study sessions is an easy way to introduce yourself during the weekday to possibly invite them to stuff on the weekends. If needs be, go to your professor or TAs office hours to ask about the homework. They are usually delighted to work through it for you. And most of the test questions are usually just rehashed homework questions, anyway.

Take some Myers-Brigs tests online and see what type of careers that you would be good at and gravitate to. This is a test that is very very easy and there are no right answers as it just categorizes you into one of 16 personality types. The tests have been around for 80 years or so and used by the biggest companies in the world to help their employees understand themselves better.

I recommend watching YouTube videos or attending formal lectures on religion because when I did not have my family to motivate me, I needed a new accountability partner to keep my faithful to my grades and that accountability partner was religion. If I did not have my religious books to guide me, I would have flunked out of college after second year and worked at a factory for the rest of my life. If you are Christian, I recommend My Daily Bread. If you are Muslim, I recommend Omar Suleiman. If you are Jewish, I recommend Akiva Tatz and Simon Jacobson.

Don’t drink and drive and don’t let any friends drive under the influence. I had a friend die bc I didn’t follow through when I saw him go out the door…I was too busy having fun and 15 minutes later, he was dead. I wish I could go back in time and do it differently.

These days trade skills pay better than a college degree career. If you have a good scholarship go for it, make sure you do your research regarding degree. Some degrees are a wast of time.
Do what’s you think is best for you, and you’re gonna get the ROI once you’re done.

If you have a full ride, definitely go to college. If not then I'm not sure if you should go unless you are doing a STEM field.

Focus on building strong friendships. Make connections OUTSIDE of social media. Take extra courses so you can finish school early. Take lots of pictures!! These years are gonna fly by SO SO FAST. Journal/Notes app things you’re going through. If you have a passion pursue it, like singing, boating, surfing, anything you like to do on the side as a hobby, do it. Say yes to more things that make you uncomfortable!! The sooner you get out of your comfort zone the more glad you will be!

Unless you intend to enter the medical field or stem don't waste your time with college. Pick up a trade (automotive, construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry etc) 1 you will get more money faster 2 the roi (some of them require a license) is staggering. As for the life bit you gotta figure that part out on your own no one size fits all

We’re in a service economy. Meaning to get rich matters on what skills are lucrative to others.

I get college ain’t too popular right now, but it’s still statistically the best way to insure you’re in the upper middle class than the lower.

If u r sure, take like 2/3 classes-and work, so u have more $$ now, and eventually get chir "Degree". ( U gotta, worry more ubout chir "current" situation', than your later on )

Don't go unless your job requires it... I. e. medical, nurses, doc, etc

If you wanna start working, start working. You'll beat most of the college kids if you go the trade route.

choose your lectures after you know where you wanna go after collage. in high school teachers tell you what you gotta learn. in college it's your job to know what you need. cause they don't know what exact proffession you wanna end up in.

Do not waste your money going to a fancy private college. Nobody will care where you went to college. They will care what you major in. Major in the sciences or accounting.
