Not at all. That’s how I looked for work when I was unemployed between 2011 and 2014. I didn’t meet any of the bosses, but I did go from store to store asking if they were hiring and filling out resumes (or applying online since applications were starting to go virtual then).
That might have worked 50 years ago but most places recruit through their company website now. A good tip is to have a look at what type of person they employ, is it mainly young or old, do they all look similar?

Ask if there r any vacancies, if yes, tell them u can start work immediately if there is someone u can get an interview with and got accepted at that moment
