I was at work tonight and giving medications. I'm a direct support professional, and we give medications. I'm 4 months into this new job. I was looking at the blister pack, and this client is supposed to get 2 tablets 400 mg (200 mg each), and I noticed there was only 1 tablet in the blister pack. But I thought maybe it was hiding in the foil. So I popped it out, and there was only 1. So I called the on call supervisor and he told me to give the one tablet and put in the computer that I only gave one due to there only being one. I even said, "You only want me to give the one tablet, right? And not pop out from the later blister packs to make sure he has two tabs?" And he said yes, just the one.
I'm now worried, I am afraid I'm going to get fired. Because in our training, this is a med error. I messaged my actual supervisor, letting him know.
I'm night shift, and I couldn't call the pharmacy to get another dose.
I'm having anxiety right now, I'm gonna get written up. I feel so dumb..
I can never do anything right. I should've never popped it out and just called the on call supervisor. What do I do?

Wait until morning. Until something happens all you did was follow orders.
Throw your supervisor under the bus if you get in trouble. He's your superior and you were doing what you were told.
