I started my new job 3 months ago

So Im still on probation period (6months)

But I didn't tell my work that I was pregnant

Few days ago I had to go give birth so I took annual leave

but my boss doesn’t know I took off work for labour

After I gave birth, I called my boss and told her the truth

she was shocked and confused but happy for me

but everything is confusing now

so she said she will get back to me by the end of the week to decide on a mutual decision about my position

then today, I received some flowers and gifts from her (my boss) and card saying congratulations

then I messaged her thank you!

We talked for abit and then she said she wants to have a quick chat tomorrow

do you guys think Im going to get fired? Or she's going to plan something that will work out?

Depends. In most EU countries you're protected several months after giving birth from being fired and the government pays partially your maternity leave. In some countries like mine even up to 3 years.
In countries without this protection you're unfortunately exposed to benevolence of your employer. Even tough most countries have laws with tax compensation for companies who keep fresh mothers employed despite they don't work for a while.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Jesus is not going to come down and take care of the baby. You should have told your boss you will have to take a maternity leave. I'm pretty sure they knew you were pregnant for the last 3 months unless you are fat as a house. There are laws protecting pregnant women in many places but if you signed an employment contract upon hire stating that you would fully disclose reasons for taking leave or give advance notice on maternity leave then you may be screwed.

So technically you can’t get fired for being pregnant and I’m sure if you told them upfront after you got the position that would’ve make things a bit more simpler. I’m sure that’s what the meeting will be mostly about so I think you will be fine.

Not really but like I said I’m sure it’ll just be like they would’ve liked to know that you were pregnant. They couldn’t hold that against you after you excepted the position as well as started there.

@Massageman Not really. I can see them extending out the probation due to the labor. They have to give you so many days after birth but you can’t use vacation or sick level on probation. They will extend the probation that could be what she is going to talk about.

you should be more truthful and upfront. there is absolutely no reason why you should have hid this and you wouldn't be in this predicament wondering if you're going to get fired or not if you just were straight forward... seriously. and you have a child now. set an example.

Depends on your country.

You can't be fired for this in the US (lawsuit waiting to happen) but they can fire you for a 100 other reasons. So if they want to fire you, they will, but it won't be because you were pregnant it will be some petty ass shit.

First of all, you're on probation. They can fire you for any reason at all when on probation. Second, you lied and weren't upfront from the very beginning of your employment. Nobody wants someone like that on staff.
