Is it better to know a little bit about everything or is it better to know specifically about one thing?

I’ve always wanted to be knowledgeable and well rounded about the world that goes from all subjects, politics people, religion, culture, media, pop, culture, etc. but now I’m learning that I need to probably narrow it down in pick aside almost but I like holding conversations with people

Growing up the way that I did was a total blessing to me I didn't have money to really do anything if I bought something or if I wanted something and I bought it used and I had to fix it. if it was to ever break

If I wanted something new when I was younger I had to go and halfs with my mom because for a while she was a single parent.
Not knowing my real dad I always wonder who I was so I would search and look at people and read people wondering if that was my dad and that's what came about that is I can read people in a instant I'm very blessed I can do just about anything in this world but I can do it pretty well
And if there is something that I have not ever learned I would take it on with confidence. Without failure you can't have success so nobody ever really fails it's just how people look at it how the judge themselves and I can do anything and if I can't I will try and I will do the best I can believe me

Why do you think you can only have either/or? When I was in the first grade, I was a year younger than most, and struggling with reading. My parents started taking me to the town library twice per week checking out two books per visit. It became a habit I kept my entire lifetime. By the time my Senior Year in High School came, I was reading around 600 to 700 pages per day in advanced science and math topics, not counting another couple hundred pages per day in "entertainment" reading fiction for whatever reason.

Your problem is you think people are inherently stupid, but you only choose to be stupid. The Bible says God made us "a little lower than the Angels". Your brain is more powerful than any super-computer, if you learn to use it correctly.

As long as the little bit u know about everything is actually accurate, I think that would be better. U can know enough to get by no matter what.

I would rather know a bit about a lot & specialize a bit in a few things. That way i know enough to get by on a lot, but more than enough of the things I rlly like / care about. I can have friends who know more about the things I don't know about, so we can help each other out when needed.

It really depends on what you want to be. I am a systems engineer, and in my career, I know a little about a lot of different things, and a lot about only a few things. That has carried over to my personal life as well... I know a little about a lot and might be considered expert in only a few things.

Some people are specialists in either a technical field or a personal field. Those are the people you often see on trivia game shows, specializing in a few areas only.

I saw a 10 yo boy on a TV game show called Master Mind several years ago, who could identify the name and location of every lighthouse in the British Isles from its picture. He was truly a specialist, knowing a lot about one specific area.

Being able to understand different viewpoints on a variety of subjects, to me, is never a bad thing.

I guess I'd consider myself a "jack of many trades and a master of several". Must be why I like MacGyver (TOS).

Music (keyboards and theory), cooking, graphic arts (of course, my Bachelor's degree), gardening, arts and crafts, some DIY are my strongest points. Basic knowledge in many areas support those, plus logical problem solving.

It depends on how you're using your knowledge if it's for work you may need specific knowledge and a specific skillset to be proficient in your job. But for general conversation it's better to be well rounded snd have a reasonable amount of knowledge about many things and topics yo fully engage in a meaningful and interesting conversation.

You want to know a lot about one thing specifically because that's what you earn a living from.
However, both for work and your personal life, it is better to have a broad base of knowledge about as much as you can; the more, the better.
