Does anyone else here think school delays are plain stupid?

My 6 yo daughter's school keeps delaying school for 2 hours, and her dad and I are already at work by that time. Both of our parents live a good 20 minutes/an hour away, so it's not like we can just take her there nor can we leave her home alone for 2 hours. I don't know what the point of these delays are. Just cancel the entire day or don't!

The public schools where I live must do 180 days. It is state law. Any snow day must be made up at the end of the year. They cannot work past June 30th according to the teachers contract. If there are too many snow days the school system has to use creative methods to meet this requirement like going to school on April vacation. If there is a snow storm sometimes the school system will wait a couple of hours until the streets have been plowed before running the school busses. This creates a problem for many parents. This is why a lot of school districts start school the week before Labor Day. Maybe get your school committee to look into that.

It's so buses can take their time and so plows can clear streets before buses run. It's safer for the kids. Don't be a parent if you can't handle inconveniences.

Nah i love when my kids get two hour delays but me and my hubby are home in the morning so it's never a issue
