9 moA friend of mine is a document specialist at a big pharma company. He works from home and pulls in $250k+ a year. In asking about what his job entails, I was completely floored that it's nothing more than organizing documents, proof-reading, etc. Something any clerk-level employee could probably do. He also works like 30 hours a week, has a giant McMansion, giant high-end SUV's in his massive driveway, etc.
I hate that he has such an easy life, but at the same time, he's a well-adjusted person individually so I don't hold it against him.
I also have another friend who is a bio-engineer or something, she's very smart and worked hard though getting her doctorate, so I envy her profession in terms of the smarts needed to do it and that she's successful in it.

9 moI don’t , it’s taken considerable time and effort for me to get to this point in my career / profession and I’m proud of it and truly love every second of every day. Of course I would like more money , who would refuse that , but at what cost? I have a healthy balance putting the hours in that my position demands and still have enough left to enjoy my life with my partner , family and friends. I am fulfilled and generally very satisfied with where I am.

9 moI envy great writers like Tolkien, Stephen King, Ursula Le Guin and directors like Martin Scorsese, or Hayao Miyazaki for their unparalleled talent and creativity. Basically all creatives. Fame or glory never really moved me, but if only I could see the world in such colorful and complex ways.

I don't envy any profession, as each has its unique value and challenges. My admiration lies with professions where people follow their passions and make a meaningful impact. Whether it's a teacher inspiring students or a doctor saving lives, fulfillment comes from aligning one's career with personal values and strengths. Each career path provides opportunities for growth and contribution to society. Let's work towards enhancing your career based on your passions and skills.

9 moI would like to be able to use my job skills to save money or time in my private life, such as by being able to fix my own car, do my own home repairs, or be my own tech support.
I can learn on my own of course, but that takes lots of extra time because you don't get the hands-on, usually paid training at work.
10 ReplyThere’s no envy when you go after what you want and achieve it. What is life when you aren’t doing what you’re passionate about and has no joy. I’m pretty good where I stand. But I also believe that we aren’t tied down to one career. There’s just so much more to us as individuals.
00 ReplyIm not sure but I dont think any of them if I want to become a certain profession I will do it if I all ready haven't.. for me I've done or do the things im in to right now dont be afraid to try something or learn it because one day you just might be stuck someplace and the only way how is knowledge and your hands

Anonymous(36-45)9 moI noticed people kept saying pilot and doctor in here. I'm a Private pilot and I'm also a doctor and trust me you don't want to be either one of these things professionally. Being a pilot gets real boring real fast even as a private pilot isn't very convenient and you don't save money by doing it. Being a doctor is very rewarding when people get better, but when they don't get better, it's not very rewarding at all and you basically feel terrible more often than not. Also, the pay seems good until you figure out what the insurance costs us and it's not so good after all. The hours are absolutely horrid.

Having worked in IT and corporate contracting, I've seen the best and worst of nearly every profession out there.
From druggie doctors to crying teachers, to psycho influencers. Nearly every profession is very different behind the scenes, to how you imagine it.
00 ReplyI don't envy it but being a chef sounds cool. Even though I heard it can be stressful, most of them are passionate about what they do and make a pretty decent amount of money doing it. And yeah I find cooking is naturally fun.

There was a movie that i used to love watching when i was a teenager, i have always dreamed to have this kind of love and even imagined myself playing the role of the actor who was a chef who loved a woman who also loves to cook and they opened their own sea food resto, the name of the movie is "women on top", here's a trailer...

@TonyMetal___86 trailer looks like a nice and fun movie. Loved the plot of moving and opening your own restaurant.
Yeah, exactly. Cooking with your partner has to be one of the funnest couple activities you can do, and especially eating and sharing together. I always said that sharing a delicious meal with your partner is one of the most bonding experiences in a relationship, especially when they're enjoying your food. - 9 mo
😊👍🏻
In the movie, they focus on cooking with love cause if they cooked without love than the meal wouldn't turn delicious, so it's all about love and doing things together, even the food will become more delicious when it's cooked with love 😊
In my line of work I envy doctors because people give them a lot of respect compared to me (pharmacist). I also wish I could treat people for more things and get credit for helping people but it's always the doctor
00 ReplyI don't envy any professions to be honest except briefly law. I would and they have good pay rate but the market is saturated now and grads can't get jobs. So envy stopped.

u 9 mo@On_cloud_wine i’m the son of a commercial airline pilot. My father was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. He’s flown all over the world and seen everything and I’ve flown with him myself and actually flying the plane. I think it’s very exciting to fly and see all the beautiful things. It’s high class and very rewarding. We lived a very luxurious lifestyle because my dad was a commercial airline pilot. Comparing a bus driver to an airline pilot is a complete laugher. That’s not a rewarding job being a bus driver. It’s a tankless job. And the pay is Nowhere in the same category. I’ve never heard of a County Bus driver before being well off.

So cool you got to experience that !

I think being a military pilot is a very different experience from being a commercial pilot and particularly being a pilot for a large airline. My impressions of these things come from having friends who fly from large airlines like Southwest who have found the experience quite boring and tedious. Obviously the people that you know have had very different experiences and I have not ruled these out. I just simply do not know people like the people you have mentioned. They seem extraordinary.

So if you couldn't do it at 16, what was stopping you at 18? I have to admit being an accountant doesn't sound, particularly interesting or engaging given that all you're doing is juggling numbers for days at a time. But if this is what floods your boat then I would encourage you to try it again.

I would actually like to have been a rockstar and make a lot of money and meet a lot of girls and have a lot of fun. The fun would not extend however to using drugs which seems to be almost a requirement these days. There's no way I'm going to put that shit in my body. Even if it is a requirement for being a rockstar.
