Not in my lifetime.
There's a lot of reasons for this and much of it can be summarized by this: lawyers.
Ultimately, a lot of jobs held by humans may be replaced by AI. That may seem better - if AI doesn't make mistakes. But you can't hold an AI legally accountable like you can a human being. So, if AI starts making mistakes and people die, who gets charged with criminal negligence or manslaughter or whatever? The legal system and society overall won't tolerate acts that cause harm without some form of justice. So, until people are held accountable for the mistakes of AI, jobs where "doing it wrong" can lead to large problems are likely to continue to held by humans (but who may still be using AI in their work, but are still responsible for their work).
Some areas will be particularly vulnerable. If expertise is based on a cascade of logic that will be fairly easily automated. But a human sales person will be more able to recognize what values I put on a product and put a value proposition to me.
Say I was interested in AR/AI glasses. Great to watch movies but maybe not a clincher. But I could also watch porn without my girlfriend knowing. If she knocks me back, I could watch porn instead whilst she coldly had her back turned to me..
Having intrinsic understanding of people will probably always have it over AI
Didn't people say the same thing in the 80s when the zx spectrum came out?
I don't think any job is truly safe, even manual ones, but desk based ones will go pretty soon. Once AI gets merged with robotics at a cost effective price then the manual ones will soon follow.
However I suspect the government will step in because they don't want to pay billions in welfare.
If I lose my job to AI, it’s only because there’s no more need for money
While AI can enhance certain tasks, it cannot replace the personalized guidance and empathy a human advisor provides. My role involves understanding individual nuances, offering tailored advice, and drawing from real-world experiences, which are difficult to replicate with AI. Embracing AI as a tool rather than a competitor can enhance my work, allowing me to focus on more personalized and strategic aspects of my role. The key is continuing to learn and adapt to changes, ensuring that human expertise remains invaluable in education and career development.
See guys? AI always tells the truth... ^

Technology has already replaced most of the jobs, but people find other jobs. Half the population used to live on family farms; now there are only 1.9 million family farms.
There are very few scribes, no elevator operators, and very few telephone operators. There are no milk men and other men delivering bottle of milk and blocks of ice to your house. There are very few places that develop 35mm and other film.
Fast food chains are trying to replace employees but so far AI doesn't have the multiple skills required to handle unusual situations. For example if a customer returns and asks, "Why is this onion ring in my french fries?" AI will not know what to do because programmers cannot design for and anticipate every possibility.
In the future, as AI becomes more capable, many more jobs will replaced, and there may come a time when some people replaced don't find other jobs because they don't have the skills to do what AI cannot.
I’ll be long dead before they make machines that can do my job. They’re closer to making equipment that can’t be repaired so people like myself are only needed for installation and replacement. Thereby lowering the value of our training, skills and knowledge.
Probably not my job is quite labor intensive and we do to many different things at to many different locations.
And AI just isn't really my companies thing and they're to cheap to buy into it anyway.
No
My job will just evolve to a higher level
Instead of menial repetitive tasks I can focus on bigger pictures while a machine does what machines do
It's going to all be "man and machine" not "man versus machine" just like the industrial revolution didn't make humans obsolete in a factory.
They have robots that can put a car together now , no need for humans
Technology has already made me never need to work so you could say it already as since I'll never work, and I hope it carries on. While making UBI more of a reality.
Doubtful. At least in my lifetime. What I do is too complex and nuanced for AI to duplicate at this point. And AI has no physical presence.
nope... at least not on my lifetime
but if that happens... I'll be the one selling you the AI agents... lmao
No. I provide Massage Therapy. There are companies that are paying $50+ an hour to have therapists "teach" about massage. I refuse to do it: it's an asinine thought.
'teach" AI about massage, that is. Totally nuts.
No one else will be working , how do people pay you
I'm the cleaner in a supermarket, all the time the shop exists, I'll be alright, BUT if internet food shopping takes over more, the shop might close,,,
Hopefully you don't get replaced by this thing.

Technology improves the human race. It means that we would need less people to make the economy go round and so the goods and services that the economy will produce will be divided by less people. Which means everyone will have more.
AI is pretty much at its peak in my field. It can't do what we can, so it won't take my job. It makes my job easier and has been a boon in the industry. I don't think I would have even considered doing this without EMR technology.
Until AI learns how to shovel chicken shit I'm not really worried about it. 😊
Eventhough sex dolls are getting more n more common but I believe they can't really replace actual prostitutes... so I think i m safe
@elizamichale1
How come?
@elizamichale1
If prostitutes were genuinely interested in a guy then they wouldn't need to pay her for it.
@elizamichale1
Look a car mechanic is expected to get the job done.
Did you have any orher arguments for why sexbots won't replace prostitutes IRL?
Mind you sex doll brothels are already a thing before having AI or mobility.
@elizamichale1
Look if prostitutes considered a guy desirable then he wouldn't have a need for their services in the first place nor is it a first career choice for most women.
Robots having fake feelings isn't really a argument here plus its questionable to what extent its fake. A robot isn't going to cheat on a guy nor take half of his property.
Is it truly fake if by actions a robot cares more?
ai will take almost everyone's job within the next decades
They already fired me thinking AI could do it. That was a two week vacation. They called me to come back and I made them pay me more. Lol. Artificial intelligence is very Artificial
Let's see AI do rescues, fight fires etc.
That would not work out so well.
@Pohjolan possibly the heat, maybe wet and below zero temps, frozen to a ladder but they would not be able to react as fast, get into confined spaces, or do so many of the things we do in a day.
They would have to be built the same as a human, just as flexible and sometimes we even can have trouble maneuvering, so we have to think our way out of trouble.
I don't think you would ever be able to program a robot to do all of that.
@Fireguy17
Oh I'm not suggesting they would replace all firemen soon but you do realise that there are already EOD robots capable of fighting a fire?
Only used in situations with a explosion hazard of course currently.
It might take 100-200 years before firemen are mostly replaced by robots.
Name any job and there's a risk to everyone of them due to AI, Automation, drone tech and robotics.
In the next 10-20 years.
Yes, I am a teacher and I know they are an endangered species
For the little ones too?
@midnightmoon05 Yes, soon there will be :"educational technicians" which are basically babysitters the kids will use a tablet to get whatever lesson the school system wants to push.
That sounds about right for 8yrs and up…
Not sure if the 3-7 years old can do without an adult.
They also can’t sit for a long period of time without supervision.
In the future yes but I don’t believe that will happen anytime soon for me
Anything that is considered a desk job, absolutely.
I’m worried that they’ll turn on us. I seen The Terminator plus I think it make society even dumber.
60% to 80% unemployment. US will have to use Universal Income.
Or commit to industrialized genocide... I know what Gates would pick
Yes, an idiot could do my job; so what is stopping AI from taking it? It just needs to be smarter than an idiot and be cheaper to employ than me.
Some jobs are more at risk than others
Definitely but my job sucks so it's fine by me.
Times are a changing!
That's the goal of every corporation right now.
Already happening hun
Nope, cause Im currently unemployed :P
Might be possible
What do u do if u don’t mind me asking?
Computer engineering
No chance
No i dont work
