Has anyone ever had an argument with hr?

Yesterday I let an employee go from the company and today I had an argument with our hr. We are all knew to this company like i was saying in another post. The argument got kinda heated. Has anyone ever said something they shouldn't had? How did it go?

Employee did very little as far as work goes. Employee asked for a 10 and I said why a 10 because you did nothing all morning. She said im on a 10 and drove off. My graveyard person called me saying she said she won't be back.

She asked for 10min break and I said no but she took 1 and left.

On what authority did you deny her a break? I know some states have it so employers are legally required to give breaks to fulltime employees

That's what the argument was about. Hr didn't like that. She didn't come back after her 10 even after a text and call and no reply.

Yeah, I can see why that would get you under fire. HR doesn’t exist to help the employees, it exists to protect the company from potential liabilities and a manager who doesn’t give employees their legally entitled breaks is a big issue to address
