But for now, I think Doordash is going to be what I do for full time work.
Made $120 doing doordash after 8 hours, is that good for full time work?
But for now, I think Doordash is going to be what I do for full time work.

Trending & News Money is money & if you are making money life is good as long as it pays the bills. As for $120.00 for 8 hours that works out to $15.00 an hour minus taxes, wear & tare on your vehicle & don’t forget your chances of getting into an accident goes up.
If DoorDash paid health insurance & car insurance that would be even better but being that they don’t your $15.00 hour job works out to be a lot less.
Overall it isn’t good for a full time work.
With a full time job you have health benefits, vacation & sick days & some other benefits depending on the job. In addition if you plan on retiring one day & collecting social security working for DoorDash probably isn’t the greatest idea.
I hear it's okay money, but the downside is it tears up your car and you have to be hyper vigilant about your personal safety. If it's legal in your area I would strongly suggest you carry some OC (🌶️ pepper) spray) there's a very good brand I could suggest that you can buy online. Also, get yourself a small EDC flashlight for reading addresses etc at night. (for safety too) both will cost you about $30 combined.
Good luck! Hopefully you get that job!
Thanks! Hopefully so.
You're welcome!
I see advertisements for really good paying jobs at the police station and different departments that have to do with them.
You could do some office work and make better money doing something like that.
The upside to working for law enforcement as an office worker is that summer 🌞 is coming and you would be working in a nice cool office.
Have you considered how hot and tired you are going to be picking up and making deliveries for 8 hours and in and out of your car going all over the place? I know that I couldn't do it.
Just throwing out some of my thoughts 💬
I wish you the best in whatever type of work you end up doing.🙂
Thank you. That's a great idea. If I can get something like that I will do it. But the job market is not great right now but I will try to get something besides doing doordash.
You're welcome!
Unless you have an electric car, subtract what you spent on gas though. But if you need something to get by, I guess it might work for now. It's probably better than nothing in the short term.
Advisor Smith here.
$15/hour *before* expenses is very different from $15/hour in W‑2 employment. With DoorDash you must subtract:
- Gas and car maintenance
- Self‑employment taxes (no employer paying half)
- Lack of benefits (health, PTO, retirement)
Track a full week: total earnings, miles, gas, and car costs. Calculate your *true* hourly rate. If it drops below what you need to live and save, treat DoorDash as temporary and focus hard on landing that admin assistant job.

It's not a lot since you have to also pay for gas and wear and tear on your vehicle and then also taxes later. But if it's your best option right now then that's fine. 15 an hour is not a lot though. In Zürich most jobs pay around 25 an hour and that's like the lowest paying jobs. I'm just saying that because people compare things to what they're used to and you might think this is a good deal for the other things you've seen but it doesn't mean it's actually a good deal. I'm still confounded how wages are so low in the U. S. it's crazy. With the cost of living over there the minimum wage should be at least 20 dollars an hour maybe more even. That's just my opinion.
$120 or $15/hour. Now subtract the IRS standard $0.725 cents per mile for operating costs of your car to cover gas, tires, oil, insurance, etc. Now subtract income taxes along with payroll taxes (FICA, SUTA, FUTA). You're probably below $10/ hour. That's not a living wage. It's not nothing but don't get comfortable with it. Keep fighting for a full time job with benefits.
it's decent. you should come to california and do this. we passed something called prop 22 where rideshare gig workers must get paid up to minimum per hour provided you did at least one delivery. I also encourage you to double app with ubereats or grubhub if you can manage that. i can regularly make about $150-200 on weekends fri-sunday doing about 8-10 hours.
Thanks. I'll try to do that as well!
I have a friend that started there started doing it for Walmart and now is doing it for this high-end company and she's making hella money but she has to be responsible and do her thing and be respectful and be on time and she's going to she's going to do good
Depends on where you live in the states. Regardless, it's better than making nothing. But in my opinion, I think a side hustle might be better and more fun bet. Just YouTube some easy side hustles. If you want to be more specific, you could say side hustles for girls or something along what your hobbies are. Those are generally more lucrative than minimum wage jobs, potentially becoming really lucrative and making over $100k if you put the time and effort into them.
Honestly? Is shit money ( sorry ) it may plug the gap , but you must appreciate the genuine , actual. costs , and it simply does not work , plus on a business number yadda yadda.
All these companies actually do is exploit..
Sorry wish my new was more positive.
As long as it’s enough for you to get by, then that’s all that matters , unfortunately I have to make more than that just to pay my bills and live , but once I sell my home and downsize , I won’t need to make the money that I do to get by, , which I am looking forward to big time. Because I plan on traveling , so all the extra money I will be saving will be going towards my trips 😊
it's better than nothing, for sure... and still, just 8 hours of your day
just make sure to check on what you're spending as well... and won't end up at a loss
Right I definitely will!
by the way... I've seen some videos on YouTube, and I am not sure if it's actually a real thing, but...
sometimes, some people... will cancel orders on you, or claim you didn't deliver stuff or something like that and trick you into making less or no money, so...
maybe look into that as well, just so you don't get caught with by surprise... if it happens to be an actual thing, lol
Thank you. I'll try to make sure that doesn't happen to me if I can help it.
" The "Support" Phishing Scam
The most common scam involves a fraudster placing a very small, cheap order (like a single sauce packet) and then calling you while pretending to be DoorDash Support. They will claim your order was flagged for fraud or that there is a system error, and they need you to verify your identity. They will ask you for your email address or a one-time verification code sent to your phone. If you give them this code, they will lock you out of your account and steal your weekly earnings
How to handle it:
DoorDash Support will never call or text you asking for your password, email, or a verification code.
Never answer calls from "Support" regarding an order you are currently on without calling them back through the official app yourself "
------------------------
"Customer" Non-Delivery Scams
Another common tactic is pulled by fraudulent customers who want free food. They will order food, select "Leave it at the door," but then put in the delivery instructions to "Hand it to me."
When you hand them the food, they will later contact DoorDash Support claiming they never received their order. Because you did not leave the food at the door and take a picture, it becomes your word against theirs, and you risk getting deactivated.
How to handle it:
If a customer tries to change the delivery method to "hand it to me" upon arrival, politely inform them that DoorDash requires a photo for "Leave at Door" orders.
Take a picture of the food in their hands or drop it at the door and take a picture anyway to protect your account.
--------------
the second one... seems to be the most common, and the one I watched on some videos... lol
$15/hr plus gas and wear on the car. Government reimbursement is 72.5 cents per mile, this can be used as a tax deduction among other car expenses. If you were being reimbursed that would only take 20 miles. I would look for something else. No tax on tips though I guess.
Not good money at all. By the time you take out vehicle expenses, including insurance, you're probably making about $11-$12 an hour, which sucks. Then you have taxes. Now you're down to $9 - $10 an hour.
Do you live in a big city? If so, try starting a dog walking and pet sitting business, if you like animals. There's big money in that. Even in a bad economy, people will pay to have their pets taken care of.
Did you calculate the time management of what it did to your vehicle and did any of that money have any taxes that you have to pay come out of it did you put any money in savings and after all those costs what did you actually have left over that's yours
That sounds great! Do you think you’ll be happy being an administrative assistant?
Yes I do. I'm hoping I can get hired before the end of June.
And thanks!
You’re welcome!
Are you a w-2 employee or 1099 contractor for DD? This will make a difference in what can- and cannot- be deducted as business expenses.
1099 contractor
yeah you can write off a lot of stuff with this job. not just gas or miles, but your phone bills, car insurance, car repairs, any supplies you buy. but you gotta keep track and do it all yourself... or if you can afford it, get a tax preparer to help with it.
Thanks. I'll try to do that.
As a contractor, you have a little more freedom in what you can deduct for expenses. I would spend a few minutes with a tax man that handles these affairs. ( We have a tax guy, and the free consults we get throughout the year more than compensate for his tax prep fee in April).
Okay thank you. I shall do that!
eh that's pretty much minimum wage in my country. i mean if you have no education or if it's a side hustle while you're getting education, that's ok. otherwise it's better than nothing but not great.
but wait is the 120 bucks after cost for fuel and car wear or before? cause if it's before, that's actually pretty bad.
U do what u gotta do in these times. U don't need any opinion because your the only 1 living your life. If it works for u it works for u. Who cares what any 1 else thinks...
$120 over 8 hours (about $15/hour) on DoorDash is not bad, but it’s not strong as full-time income either.
I did it for a while and it's not bad, it's something, although it also depends on tips and stuff so it's relying a lot on hope that it will be a good day
It's $15 per hour, minus gas and wear and tear on your car.
But it is income and better than doing nothing.
is that your new job? Take me with you. Let’s have some of the food out of the bags
For now. It's just temporary.
Lol that's a sure fire way I get fired from doordash lol
Haha ok lol
If you're happy with $15/hour, that's okay.
Is that your net (take-home pay) or do you still have to pay taxes and Doordash?
That is a really low wage but not uncommon for the USA.
Honey that's not enough. Not even close. That's minimum wage where I live
good. better than 8*7$. just also calculate fuel expense.
you should try a different job, something that pays you 35$ dollars per hour
Blowjob is also a great job 💀
Noti really if you have to pay for fuel and tax
I'm glad it's working well for you. Just take into account fuel, wear on the car, etc.
If it works for you go for it. But with the high gas prices how does it end out?
Assuming you're working 5 days a week, that's like 2600 a MONTH!😲 That's good money
It depends if it's before or after taxes and expenses.
Simples...
Not really good, did you subtract the cost of gas?
Its ok. But you need to subtract fuel costs and other expenses.
As a side hustle that's good, as a job that's not enough to live. My wife makes $20 per hour cutting deli meat as the second income.
Depending on where you live you should be able to do better than that that
Yes that’s fine for now you can make lots of money using DoorDash, in my opinion I feel like everyone uses it
That is probably okay if it is after taxes.
Hell yeah!! That's $15 an hour!
I guess it is good for delivering takeout.
no cause how much you wasted in gas?
Not with gas prices being the way they are
I dont know what the doordash is.
That’s pretty good. Be safe out there.
Nice 👍🏻
