How Many Hours Do You Typically Work In A Usual Day?

Usually 8, but my boss tells me I do good work and can work overtime if I want to. I might, I might not though. That just depends on staffing that day and how much work there is.
7 hrs a day , Monday to Friday.
Occasionally when it benefits me I may do a little more but I nearly always take it back on a lighter day.
I don't work everyday but when I do it can be five hours to or 15 hours. I'm bless to have weeks where I don't work at all but often when I do is extremely intense.
I work eight to four on weekdays and nine to three on weekends. Every second weekend I have three days off.
Most professionals I coach, and in my own early career, averaged 8–10 hours a day.
Here’s how I think about it now:
- Healthy baseline: 7–9 focused hours of real work.
- Early career / high-growth roles: Often 9–11 hours, but ideally temporary and purposeful.
- Senior roles: Hours may stretch, but the goal is more impact per hour, not just more hours.
Track your energy, not just time. If you can consistently deliver high-quality work in fewer hours, that’s success, not laziness.

I don't have "usual days". My work tends to be very situational and time sensitive as well as high risk for my clients. So I may have a very light day with a few phone calls or I may go at a mountain of data for 36 hours until I understand the reality of a given business. Days don't matter. Sat, Sun, Holidays are all another day. My clients are scattered across the planet. If there is a time sensitive need, that's what I'm responding to. On the other hand I can pretty much manage my calendar and what projects I take on and that allows me a lot of freedom to live my life as I want to.
I'm retired is. But when I was working, in an office, a 9 or 10 hour workday was pretty common
it can vary a lot so there's no typical days...

Depends how many patients I have. It varies between 0 and 14 hours
Productive time: 24 hours minus sleep.
Producing time: 8 hours minus "meetings"
Actual work time: what's left between these two 😁
8-10 on average. Sometimes Saturdays. Winter is a lot slower usually with an average of about 30 hours a week.
Zero, unless indulging my base appetites is considered working.
Maybe 3. I'm 44 and retired. I get up at 9am and do yard work until it's too hot. I live in Texas so I'm done work before noon.
