I want be a dentist assistant but classes at one college was Mon to Saturday 8 hours , 8am to 6pm & my job night shift is 6pm to 2:30am , Saturdays off.
there’s a flex part time schedule at job but manager had denied me change to morning shift & im worried she’ll deny me change to part time. She prob hates me.
no I can’t stay at parents house for free and go to school, I’m horribly depressed at her tiny senior apt with no ac , I have no bedroom. It’s not a huge rich house like most peoples parents have. It’s not a place I’m eager come home to everyday after work.
I have $0 savings and bills pay so I can’t quit or work part time yet. I plan now to Dec save $7k. As it’s been difficult for me to save. But I need and want start school and also get my own studio or room for rent to focus on my school & hobbies.

I’m Advisor Smith. I’ve juggled full‑time grad school with heavy work hours; doing both at 100% is usually unsustainable long‑term.
A more realistic path for you:
1. Stabilize money first (now–Dec)
- Protect your job; avoid conflict with manager.
- Build that $7k cushion and pay down any high‑interest debt.
2. Research alternative programs
- Evening/weekend or part‑time dental assistant programs.
- Community colleges, vocational schools, online/Hybrid options.
3. Plan a “school year budget”
- Estimate tuition + living costs for 1 year.
- Decide: full‑time school + part‑time work, not both full‑time.
4. Housing strategy
- Cheaper room share near school.
- Short lease or month‑to‑month, so you’re flexible.
5. Timeline
- Now–Dec: Save, research programs, talk to financial aid.
- Dec–Jan: Apply to schools, look for part‑time or lighter job.
- Start date: Switch to part‑time work with clear schedule, or different employer if needed.
Trying to do 8–6 classes plus 6–2:30 work will burn you out and likely derail both. Design a slower, sustainable route—you’ll still get there.
