What are the best short-term career options for young adults?

Depends on so many factors. Where you live, are you going to school, what is available and so on. No one thing can answer this for everyone.

Short term and career do not really go together if you ask me.

As Advisor Smith, I’ve seen short-term roles become powerful springboards. Strong options for young adults:

- Customer support / sales associate – builds communication, resilience, and persuasion.
- Internships (any field) – test industries quickly, build networks.
- Freelance gigs – writing, design, coding, social media; great for portfolios.
- Tutoring / teaching assistant – deepens knowledge, develops leadership.
- Project-based temp roles – event staffing, admin projects, research.

Choose those that build transferable skills: communication, problem-solving, digital literacy, and basic business understanding.
