This just seems like another social justice warrior piece that is more about political ideology than it is about entertainment. I get enough politics in everyday life, I don't want it in my movie time.
Everything is racial now. Can't watch sports without racial nonsense, can't watch TV or movies without it... just gets tiresome. Marvel movies are a tired genre to begin with, so it's not like the world needed another superhero movie to make us complete.
Its actually not that bad. Plus the story is really good. There a few racist, and cringy moments, but dont let that turn you off from the movie. Overall, it is great in terms of plot, and with regards to marvel, actually had an interesting villain, and rather decent character development.
I'd tell you to watch it , even just for the ethical dilemna it presents
@lord_chilled First of all, does the world need another Marvel movie? I got really tired of this genre about the time when the X Men franchise released its 57th film. But, to each, this own.
As far as this movie goes, the plot seems like pure social justice warrior propaganda: Utopian African country has all the good stuff, evil whitey covets said stuff, and bad times ensue until evil whitey is vanquished. I can see how black people would enjoy this, but I think a white man would have to be pretty far in the tank to truly enjoy it, kinda like the new Star Wars movies.
its not black vs white. its about a black king vs his family member. more civil war type of thing , war of ideologies. raises a lot of questions.
but maybe as a white man , you may not like the subtle and not so subtle racism in there. in your face lines like " another broken white boy for me to fix" made me cringe, even tough im not white.
and there was a slight, black vs white undertone, but it wasn't the focus, if you can look past it, its actually a decent marvel movie. in terms of storytelling and such. i only found the captain america films more entertaining, regarding marvel movies.
@xXiTacoXx Funny that you consider perusing comic books to be "reading," but ok. And no, X-Men has nothing to do with Black Lives Matter or any other similar type of whining.
I never mentioned black lives matter. You really are dense... I'm talking about how Marvel Comics have been showing the different types of real world injustices going on their comics since well before the 80's. Hell, even one of Black Panthers comics have him kicking the KKK's ass, and it's one of the much older comics too. Again, read the comics before talking nonsense.
@xXiTacoXx So? Just because Marvel made a comic pandering to black kids doesn't mean that Marvel comics are SJW in general. Your claim that all of Marvel is SJW based on the existence of the Black Panther comic is simply not based in reality.
@lord_chilled It's more about representing different discriminated and chastised groups when it comes to the X-Men so both minorities and LGBTQ+ fall under that. It to show in a way what we go through while making it very entertaining to see in the process.
It flew, and it flew super well. That's why they're so successful. You can see this with the comics they've made throughout the years and I'm not just talking 2000's comics, but from comics from the 90's, 80's,70's, and 60's too. My dad got me into the comics when I was young to I've read his old collection from the older years. There has always been social justice topics in them.
@xXiTacoXx No, there were no Social Justice Warriors in the '70s and '80s. People like that got laughed at back then. And they would never have included that kind of nonsense in a comic book aimed at kids.
There have been fighters for social justice back then too. They just didn't call themselves or weren't given the title Social Justice Warrior. Malcom X, Dr. King, and many more were social justice warriors. It's just no one started branding people who wanted to fight for equality or talk about handling the injustices in the world SJW's until now.
@xXiTacoXx No, by definition, a Social Justice Warrior is a clueless person who fights against problems that don't actually exist. MLK had an actual cause, that being segregation in the South. SJWs have no cause because black people in America have the highest quality of life of black people anywhere in the world.
What's ironic is that now young black people want to re-segregate, which must have MLK rolling in his grave.
On a small handful of fools that the majority of black people in the U. S. don't even listen to or acknowledge want segregation. As for the "better quality of life" thing I want you to know it's still not by much. We still face prejudice here. And MLK and Malcom X are still social justice warriors too, because I can bet your ass that white people back then thought that racism towards black and other minority groups was a non-issue back then. They'd make the same comments you're making right now. This is why that even in the 70's some schools were still segregated, and why in other area's interracial marriage was still illegal up until the 90's which isn't that long ago. Hell, gay marriage didn't become a thing in the U. S. until just a couple years ago because prejudice people still exist. And the same people who still held prejudice in their hearts back then are still alive today. It didn't just magically disappear.
So saying that people are fighting problems that don't exist is a lie. The problems exist, but you just don't directly see it because it doesn't affect you the way it affects the people who actually have to deal with those problems.
I have not seen it yet. You know good and well these bitter ass white People Don't Have Any interest in seeing a top movie with a predominately black cast. They don't want to see blacks succeed

Marvel comics have always been about Social Justice. Are you new?
@xXiTacoXx There's no SJW in the original X Men. I think you've let the SJW disease infect your brain.
It's not a disease, and you clearly don't read. Just read all the comics and you'll see it.
@xXiTacoXx Funny that you consider perusing comic books to be "reading," but ok. And no, X-Men has nothing to do with Black Lives Matter or any other similar type of whining.

Well, actually x men actors have said the movies were about the lgbt.
I don't know about the comics

They've done the same thing with the X-Men and many of the older comic books too including Captain America. Do you not ready any of them?
@xXiTacoXx No, no way. This whole SJW thing would not have flown in the past. They would've gone out of business years ago if they had.
It flew, and it flew super well. That's why they're so successful. @lord_chilled didn't they bring someone else to Wakanda to be healed or something? It's to my understanding that that's the meaning behind that.
yeah they did, bucky the winter soldier. they showed him post credit.
but what i meant was the expression. its somewhat derogatory.
