In Honor of Halloween, Here Are 5 (out of so many) Horror Movies That Kept Me on the Edge of my Seat

In honor of the upcoming Halloween holiday, here are 5 scary movies (among so many choices) that I can easily remember horrified me the first time I ever watched them.

They're enumerated below in no particular order which is why I didn't number them.

Psycho

So far, my favorite Hitchcock movie of all.

The Exorcist

Many sleepless nights for me after watching this thriller.

Freddy vs. Jason

An epic battle in which I found myself cheering for Jason.

The Ring

I couldn't get that creepy sound Samara makes out of my head!

The Thing

I always thought frigid Antarctica was uninhabitable. Apparently, not!

Although there so many favorite horror movies I can feature, these 5 immediately popped out of my head.

You are welcome! I was kind of tired when I posted that but Psycho is such a great horror classic, right next to birds! Possession freaks me out big time, I always avoid those because the thought of losing control of your body is scary and Exorcist just scares me for that reason and the fact that you are talking to a demon so freaky.. I was really excited for freddy vs Jason but I got my hopes up too high, I wanted freddy to have more one liners with Jason and it was more of a serious standoff. I have to watch it again when I kind of know what I am expecting. The ring is one of favorite modern scary movies next to the grudge and it follows. The thing is a classic John Carpenter and really plays into invasion of the body snatchers, it is great to see how people function socially but has a pretty depressing ending. and hey a young Kurt Russel, not as young as the computer that wore tennis shoes but he's younger than he was when he played ego in guardians two. Like I said, all great picks

Very good choice with The Thing.
Did you know the Exorcist is the horror movie with the most mysterious deaths? I think it's 9 deaths but I'm not sure

I liked the Ring and I liked The Thing.
Psycho was interesting but I didn't find it scary.
The Exorcist didn't really scare me... I just thought it was a young teen looking gross.
Freddy vs. Jason... that was just AWFUL. The original and part II are really the only ones (in my opinion worth seeing).

I would agree with The Thing. I would also add In the mouth of madness, Hellraiser (first one), The people under the stairs, IT (the remake, I've not seen the original), and an old one Night of the Demon.

Night of the Demon is amazing! The whole series, actually, belongs up there with The Evil Dead series, as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't find any of these films truly horrifying, but I think anyone who might argue that they're universal horror classics might be delusional or a damn fool. I remember seeing each one for the first time and I enjoy watching them occasionally to this day, especially during the month leading up to Halloween.

The only movie that kept me edge off the seat was the exorcist but I was really young and my first horror film. After that nothing hasn't scared me, but I love Chucky he's my number one. Followed by Michael Myers and Jason.

The shining was also great as was Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Great movies, The Thing is one of my top 5 favorite horror movies too, along with Halloween, Friday The 13th, Nightmare On Elm Street and The Omen.
