Here you go, lol...
I am a military child
I know what it's like to move
I know the smell of cardboard better than any
I know the best way to get used to a new place (hide and seek)
I am a military child
I know what it means to start anew
I know that it is harder to be left behind than to leave behind
I am a military child
I am experienced in changing schools mid year
I know that sometimes you have to start before your stuff has arrived
I am a military child
I know things will be lost in each move
I know to scatter precious things you can't carry amongst random things and why
I am a military child
I can camp in a house for months without much more than clothes
I know we may not have a place right away to camp in
I am a military child
I know I need my ID to stay in our house on base
In fact, I need it on me at all times
I am a military child...
And I am scared of becoming a civilian...
For some, it is sudden--as death... that is the worst, no doubt...
For others, there is time to plan...
But the security of a base is hard to leave
We have to wonder:
What do you do?
What is it like to never leave?
Don't you feel stuck?
Will I?
