I don't like it. I don't get the logic of a warrior with no armor. And if the idea is to appeal to the mostly male audience they could still make a female sexy in full body armor. Brigitte from overwatch wears full armor and still looks nice.
Sure, but I think it depends on the mood of the game. Brigitte makes sense in a game like Overwatch just like Ivy (the woman in the picture) makes sense in Soul Calibur.
Dude, they use swords bigger than themselves, a lot of weapons don't make sense in the first place. Even armor that looks protective does not make sense and is not practical. Also, it makes sense when there are already characters like these :
I mean look at the size of the dude in the first picture, look at the size of his weapon, his muscles. Then, the second dude is blind and yet he fights as well as any other character. None of this makes sense because it's not meant too.
Not really... if you think about it Everything in most games are fantasy and made to appeal to the players. Women in skimpy outfits is just one of em. Do i prefer it? No. Do i care enough to really try and tell these games to stop? No.
I agree, it's a very sad thing in this world, oversexualizing something, and blowing it out of proportion... It's not just games doing it, either! Magazines, Comics, Movies! It harms our viewpoints on how Girls ought to look... Which might have a tie-in on "body shaming"...
Its bad, women even virtually shouldn't be portrayed like that. Mostly its made by pervy guys who play and enjoy using these characters.
I was a huge tekken/soul caliber fan, and I think as a kid it fueled perverted thoughts haha. Just look at Ivy's costume haha. Dont even get me started on Dead or Alive
People know the difference between virtual worlds and real life. What you say is like saying video games promote or normalize violence which is just wrong.
I know people can be dumb, but not that dumb for the most part and I think it's really degrading to think that people are not able to separate virtual things from the real world. Even children can do that.
It bothers me to some extent. I'm not going to make a big deal of it but when I'm playing I want realism, not skimpy outfits. So put on a real set of armor.
If I want to see half clad women there are many websites to choose from; I don't need it in my games.
I don't like games that only make female characters wear skimpy outfits it just shows they non verbally saying their game is only for men or they don't care about their female players.
No different that every Square Enix game in existence based around a pretty, long haired man with a big sword. Not everyone likes to role play as a K-Pop star, but the game is the way it is. I don't play it for the looks.
It's simply fantasy. If a guy finds that hot, no big deal.

I like them. It’s not secret that most action video games are played by boys. But for the girls who actually enjoy video games it’s nice to be able to switch to a sexy, bad ass fighter girl rather than play with the boy fighters

It is once again the oversexualiization of the female body. Regardless whether it is in real life or as a video game or movies, society must always place sex on the top of their visual list of enhancements.
Society is sick and by seeing women solely as sexual objects, it shows that it has less than no respect for the gender.
It is a sexist approach to making as much money on the back of women as usual. Sex sells and women, as sexual objects, pay a high price for it.
Not all of these characters are only there for the sex, a lot of them have a story, a background and a place in the story. They are not there solely for the sex as you mention. However, it's true that sex sells and will appeal to more men potentially but I don't see how this degrades the image of women. People know how to distinct video games from real life.
So tell me, why in the picture that you took for your question the girl has to be half naked? Why does she have such huge breasts? Why could the creators not have made her with a A cup breast and baggy clothes that don't reveal any of her attributes?
It is because it is a sexualization of the female body as I said in my reply and nothing more.
Yes, that's for sexualisation, to appeal a certain audience, but I would like to add that, in the same game, you have male characters like this :
Now, does it objectifies men too? Personally, I don't think so and I don't think it's an issue to have male characters like this. People are usually smart enough to distinct virtual things from real life and they would not apply these unrealistic standards to real life because they are not that dumb.

Yes of course it's art. Coming from an artist that enjoys drawing women in erotic an sexualized poses, do you realize how much skill it takes to render the female body in its most pure and ideal form?
Its hard enough drawing using references. Its even more difficult when you draw digitally because then you start getting into adding color, shadows, giving the character depth, etc.
I chose neutral because even though it really doesn't bother me. It does pose thought of. . . "How the hell does that have a better armour class than full plate armour"? One of the many questions that perplexes my mind...
There's literally nothing wrong with it. The games target demographic is clearly men. Which there's also nothing wrong with that either. Are women gonna start complaining about women being naked in porn now too

The Brigitte part is debatable. If you take Rule 34 into account though...
Maybe. But in the context of female warriors I'd prefer her to a bikini model with an oversized sword
Sure, but I think it depends on the mood of the game. Brigitte makes sense in a game like Overwatch just like Ivy (the woman in the picture) makes sense in Soul Calibur.
No I don't think ivy makes sense in a game where the use bladed weapons

Yes it's fantasy. Still it doesn't make sense to me
I mean, when the game does not make sense in the first place, why would the rest would have to? To me, it's mainly about consistency of the universe.
I don't know. It doesn't make sense in my head
I mean look at the size of the dude in the first picture, look at the size of his weapon, his muscles. Then, the second dude is blind and yet he fights as well as any other character. None of this makes sense because it's not meant too.

The exact same thing happens with men being over-masculinized. Do we care? No.
Apparently not... But we should!
What's even scarier: KIDS see this stuff!
It's like Brainwashing!!
Why should we care?
Oh wait... Now I see what you're saying. Forget it.
In anime, the girl is sexualized every single time. But I still watch it. You can't escape it, might as well deal with it lol
I like the sexy outfits, i always go for those types over normal ones if i have the choice.
Its bad, women even virtually shouldn't be portrayed like that.

Why is it so bad?
It normalizes nudity/indecency
Now I understand everything, normalizes indecency now. But this is just a very small cog, in a very big machine
People know the difference between virtual worlds and real life. What you say is like saying video games promote or normalize violence which is just wrong.
It does desensitize people at the least.
You would be surprised how little people can separate virtual and real world.
I know people can be dumb, but not that dumb for the most part and I think it's really degrading to think that people are not able to separate virtual things from the real world. Even children can do that.

I like it. They look super cute.
Let the men wear all the armour and gear, the ladies can be cute and move much faster. Also we are tougher, we don't need that protection.
I don't like games that only make female characters wear skimpy outfits it just shows they non verbally saying their game is only for men or they don't care about their female players.
I only play as female characters usually. And the sexier one is usually my first choice. 😎

Doesn't bother me, unless I wanna play the game in front of my parents.
I dont care enough about video games as a whole but I imagine its better to be able to distinguish a bad ass female from a man.
It's simply fantasy. If a guy finds that hot, no big deal.

Only feminist have something to say about stuff like this.
we other people dont care.

Because its art. Dont like it? Dont buy the game.
@DWD1994 it would never come to my mind to be crap like that in the first place!
And then, I had a real good laugh! Art?
Yes of course it's art. Coming from an artist that enjoys drawing women in erotic an sexualized poses, do you realize how much skill it takes to render the female body in its most pure and ideal form?

It is ART whether you like it or not.
Yes, video games are art, since when they aren't art?
It doesn't really bother me. I see it everywhere not just in games. magazines, movies, tv shows, the internet...
Like all fantasy, it's wish fulfillment. Dressing skimpy is the least ridiculous thing that goes on in some games.
I think it's very clear how female armor works in games
