Oddly I am from Japan but I dislike JRPGs! :-D I tend to favor the Western ones with rules closer to analog roots, like even powerful characters only having 25 HP and being able to die in a single critical hit as opposed to like super lengthy boss battles with hundreds to thousands of HP with characters that can be healed fully and revived mid-battle.
So I tend to like games with rules where it's like it wouldn't take too long and become too tedious even if we had to do things like manually roll dice ourselves each time we attack. Those feel more to me like we're playing with very mortal characters who can suffer permanent injuries and permanently die as opposed to superheroes.
I want it. But the cost is a nah.
The thing i only have gamepass, then for me to a buy game it's not really gonna happen other than call of duty cause yes i am sad and haven't missed buying one since B02 introduced me to it.
Then other games i play are free to play stuff. If it comes to game pass like CodeVein i will be super happy.
I play all kinds of games and I'm keeping an eye on MMO's. I'm waiting weeks or months or for friend's feedback of a new game before considering getting it myself
I've played a few jrpgs and loved them, (especially star ocean) but I haven't heard of this one yet, I dont really keep up with video games too much anymore.

I voted “E” because I am not a fan of the cartoony art style of JRPGs. Specifically, do you need to have played the previous to understand this game?
Nope most of these are stand alone
The Tales of Series always looked super interesting to me, but i didn't like the combat. I am more of a fan of the classic Turnbased combat. So i will be waiting for a sale and get it half price for Christmas maybe.
I am a jrpg fan but I don't have any of those systems. Plus I should probably finish some of the games I already have.
its on steam too
I've gotten out of video games in general but i'm not into turn based combat unless its like KOTOR... all Sithy and whatnot lol.
haha totally read that title COMPLETELLLYYY wrong 😂🤦🏽♀️ Voted F 🤣 sorry Toady
Yeah me and my ex had a couple good role playing things going on with a Japanese theme
Big bobbed blonde elves in BDSM outfit and gay like looking boys with 2 tons heavy swords? I don't think I'm a targeted customer audience for this game
I don't play games. Won't now with broken hands lol
I recently bought ps4 since 5 was not avail and I'm loving sekiro and nioh 2 not sure about this one but will check for sure
I love JRPG, but have too many other games I want more.
I'm not a fan of jrpg
i could probably get you into it i bet ;)
Not exactly sure which ones are jrpgs vs rps honestly
They tend to feature anime-style artwork for a start but I also find that many of them often have very long battles and creatures with super high HP. Boss battles can start to resemble a puzzle game with tricks to defeating them.
I think in Japan, we didn't have such a popular culture for people playing pen and paper or tabletop games. So Japanese game designers took more inspiration less from those roots and directly from Western games like Ultima and Wizardry. Then they started really moving heavily in a direction that only works well digitally, like battles that would take too long if players had to do things like manually roll dice each time they attack. So very often I find JRPGs feature characters with like hundreds to thousands of HP... not always but frequently.
Also not always the case but they tend to emphasize a more linear narrative with many cutscenes. So the story tends to be a bit fixed in stone with minimal ways to change it. Meanwhile, I think Western RPGs tend (not always) place more emphasis on the idea of your character (s) kind of creating their own story as they freely adventure throughout the world.
We might have but I'm not one of them for sure Lol
It comes out Thursday at least on steam
Not a big fan of jrpg's
I haven’t been excited for a new game since Halo 4
Not into it
