Iām no expert when it comes to classical music, but every time I listen to Moonlight Sonata, I feel all sorts of emotions and envision different parts of my life, even made up parts of my life all flashing before me like Iām watching a movie about my life at 2x speed. One moment, Iām saying good bye to a woman that Iāve never met, in a place that Iāve never been to, and then Iām at war running towards the enemy with a flurry of chaos around me. Music, specific kinds of music, can have rather interesting effects on oneās thoughts and feelings.

One of my all time favs is Polovtsian Dances by Alexander Borodin. The song Strangers in Paradise uses the same tune.

There are many, classical music is present in my life all the time. In the last 6 years, surely the one that I have repeated the most is Bolero by Ravel. In recent months it is Tchaikosky's Piano Concerto No. 1. It was used by the Russian Olympic committee at the Tokyo Games. And it was also used in the beautiful opening of the 1980 Olympic games in Moscow.

I was a percussionist with my area youth symphony in the years 1968-1971. We performed Pictures At An Exhibition and I think about those teenage years every time I hear it performed.
