My dad who is now 56 told me that song was a big hit when he was a teenager at that time. My mom now 54 keeps on telling me that she isn't old that Funky town was invented in the 1950's that she isn't old. Any of you that are in their 50's would happen to know on what year funky town was popular?

It was released as a single in 1980.
