I live in Houston and worked the event. I was working at the entrance to the festival and the amount of people coming in all day was ridiculous. People who bought their tickets through third parties wouldn’t scan and some people received their wristband already tighten so they couldn’t get in. The amount of times a group of people (all boys) tried to break down the fences and stampede the gates was ridiculous. There was not enough security or staff to deal with ticket problems. The concert overall was fun and entertaining. (I didn’t realize all the denomic signs until people pointed them out the next day) I was on the right side in the middle next to the sound system. I couldn’t hear any yelling or screams for help, neither did anyone else around me. The festival should be for 18+ or even 21+. It makes me sad that people are hating on Travis Scott because even though his music attracts crazy wild boys with anger issues it was the event planner and organizers fault for not having more security, not informing travis of all the chaos and not offering more water stations. (Plus many other things)
Something the media isn’t showing is that after 2 songs, he did stop the concert and told people to move so they could get someone who passed out out of the crowd

A real performer would have stopped their concert and ordered calm, kanye, beyonce, rhianna, jay z those that know their fans keep them in their million pound lifestyles they are used to, i believe would stop their concerts and demand the fans behave or they stop the gig.

Travis saw that people are passing out… in my opinion isn’t only travis fault but mostly the company who organized the concert, first of all people broke the door to enter the concert, so it’s problem of the company, there were 50 thousand people there a lot of them didn’t pay to be there. People were passing out bc they couldn’t breathe, in other words too much people in a small space i also saw that somebody was injecting people with some substance that caused cardiac damage, a girl in a video was screaming in the stage for help to stop the show bc people were dying. Travis once said when he saw that a guy was passing out to call the ambulance and after he started to sing again like nothing happened. Kylie Jenner posted that she didn’t saw people dying but she posted a story with a ambulance in the middle of the crowd lol. Travis and the company should definitely be indict for bad conduct and pay for the medical bills and funerals for community. Isn’t the first time this happened in 2019 Travis was arrest for inciting riots and also in the lollapalooza concert, his concert are crazy i agree but when people are dying or being injured it’s a BIG problem

The real question is if he knew it was going on. If he did he probably would have stopped the show.
It might seem obvious you'd not miss people dying in front of you but but hear me when I say the crowd can get seriously wild with "moshpits", "wall of death" and "circlepits", jumping and pushing. That is the usual things that happens in rowdy excited crowds and people fall there too, mostly as soon as that happens people bond together to help and shield eachother. Sometimes, for some reason they don't.
In my own biased experience I've both fallen and helped people get up.
I've felt mostly like pop-festivals and pop-concerts have had the most selfish people in them. Plenty of helpful carebears at metal festivals/concerts. Also had a good impression of raggie- and EDM-types but those mostly consists of forest-raves and that's alawys a certain types on individual that go on those, might not be comparable.
What I'm saying is that it can be hard to see when the usual chaos crosses the line into stomping murder.

He knew. At one point he stopped and he's looking right at the stretcher with literal flashing lights on it and asks what's going on. Two people come onto the stage assumingly tell him and he just brushes them off, then proceeds to tell the crowd he wants to make "the ground shake".
Looked up some vids. You're right. He saw that happen and didn't think to stop. But he might not have known the cause. Still, from the stage he stood on there it looked like he had a pretty good vantage to see a lot of things go down.
Maybe he's all caught up in his act and aren't looking down so much as focusing on his performance.
Not trying to defend him, just saying his point of view is vastly different from the crowds. What goes through ones mind while up there. Where is his focus.. and so on.
Not sure I could blame him but he should have been more observing.
Tracis and Astroworld can easily be appointed the blame because punishing feels like the right thing to do.
I think Astroworld should be held more accountable than Travis though, they where supposed to be prepared for this sort of stuff. Events like this is not unheard of. They are the ones that hold the main responsability in my opinion. They should have known to shut it down, Travis shouldn't have a say in it.
That said Travis is not innocent in all this, but I think lesser than..
I don't know this is a guy who stopped a concert because of a missing shoe... A lot of people are to blame but it's disgusting that he's saying he had no idea until after the show what happened when he clearly knew something was happening.

I can imagine standing on stage, there's a routine, you know all the songs and how to be and you just go at it. But like what goes through your mind and where is the focus?
I think it's a flow of just doing it by routine. When the crowd is suddenly no longer an ocean of people but just endless movement and screams. After a few concerts like that I can imagine you're not so observant of what's going on, especially if those that fell immidiately dissappeard under the crowd.
While music is on, how much do you really hear unless the crowd is chanting it all together?
When he realized that someone needed to get out, he paused, he didn't seem like he had a clue tbh, did't really seem like he'd put much thought to it either. There can be numerous reasons someone is passed out, there might not be a reason to shut it down.
I doubt he knew people were stomping eachother.

There's countless videos being shown currently of other artists from various genres stopping shows because they spotted 1 person in a crowd fainting. A single person, and they stopped the show for a minute and told everyone to move out of the way so the medics could get to the person. There's also countless videos of artists noticing that crowd is very squished and stopping the show and telling everyone to space out. There's no excuse.

First of all the dead people died either before the panic and/or by heart failure of any sort. Aka there is most likely not a causation between mass panic and people dying. Look at the german love parade incident for comparision how people who died there died because they slipped and were trampled on.
Secondly that Travis Scott keeps performing is absolutely inacceptable. Even if we give him the benefit of a doubt of either having no clue or being on drugs - there are videos where part of the staff got informed. Which leaves the question how everyone involved in keeping the concert going from band members to camera men and soudn technicians kept going despite everything happening. That's morally questionable the least and requires a serious investigation.

it was mass chaos as the music played on, even as two concert goers climbed the back/side of the stage yelling people are dead in there to a camera man. the cameras rolled on. is he fully to blame? no. but when he saw the ambulance he also didn't stop. hard to tell where his thought process was, when no one above him came out to stop the show. you take your chances at concerts and huge gatherings these days ufort.

look what happened with covid when it first started im in healthcare and a front line worker, people were fighting over stupid material items, pushing, shoving, pulling trampling? its a lot of fake kindness in the world very little real kindness and compassion.
When there’s 50,000 attendees, stuff like this is going to happen. I’ve been to several hip hop concerts, and honestly this is WAY too large of an audience, and I would never go to something like this. Also a child does not belong at these kinds of concerts. I blame the parents of that 10 year old for allowing him to go to a concert geared for adults , on top of the fact that a 10 year old does not belong at one of these things. I blame the venue for even condoning this event to happen when I am sure they are understaffed with employees with the rest of the world. Just overall irresponsibility of multiple parties. 50,000 people do not belong jammed up in a venue.
It's a fucking shame. Shame on Travis for ignoring it, shame on the light crew for ignoring the pleas of the crowd, shame on everyone who just brushed it off, shame on the organizers for allowing it to get so chaotic and shame on them for not having an appropriate amount of first aid gear.

I average 25 concerts a year. I have never experienced anything like this. The reason why is because of the shitty music and the crowds it draws. You would NEVER see this at a metal concert. Anxious to see how many lawyers he has when he lawyers up.

Well i think it's a tragic display of poor event management. We had a similar tragic event here few years ago on a Love Parade where 21 people died. Event managers have to make sure there's always enough escape spaces for emergency anyway. So if there wasn't even an emergency and people die to overcrowding, then there's really something going wrong with the entire location planning.
I’ve never heard of him to be honest but that sounds really bad and horrible. I feel sorry for those people families. As for this guy he should never make any more concerts in the future if he can’t organize one properly and keep people safe until they leave.
If he wasn't high his perception would have kicked in but he didn't react accordingly. That what being high does to people. It's not just him who's accountable. Everybody who was there fucked up. People don't know how to act anymore. Sad day for society. Nothing more nothing less.
It was preventable with better crowd management, instead they had a too dense crowd inside one big barrier of a stage area. A mix of better stage design, reef barriers and more security can break a mosh crowd up into more controllable pieces.
Naturally when pressed forward in a mosh it will have to be pressed back by people's weight, and that means people can fall over. Short, less weight, younger folks suffer the most, and that's why there were deaths of young ages as well.

Its a rule every mosher knows nowadays: if someone falls down, you help them up. All the concerts i've been to, and that's a lot, never had one incident where someone got hurt because no one helped them out. Seriously, metal fans are some of the best people I've ever associated with.

One does not simply go to a metal show and not mosh. Ok you saw some shit and that's terrible luck but I can say in confidence that it is not the norm for metal shows.
