Can white people sing the N-word while listening to rap music?

If that word is so offensive no one should be using it.
White people can't sing so no.

They can say what they want. And they can catch the consequences from it too.
Okay, once again, as a black man myself, no, I don't care if they do. Personally although I hate the word because people like to use in interchangeably with the hard "R" when it suits then, I won't fault people who use it because this version has essentially been a racial slur flipped to take power back by the people it was aimed towards. Plus, when you have black people saying it in common use synonymous with friend/guy/dude/motherfucker/etc. you really aren't helping your cause and any goal of keeping it exclusive to black people is not only a stupid gatekeeping attempt, but ridiculous in of itself.
As one of the most copied people on the planet, you would imagine it would be an honor, but evidently it is racism. You can't take a word that isn't even designed to be racial and cry foul for it being racist when not only are you all using it in a different context compared to the distinguished hard "R". That's why I don't get mad when I hear it flying around in public, but I get pissed when they want to use it as a racial argument standpoint.
That argument is only sensible and valid if they didn't make it the word they did now. Suck it the fuck up and move on.
I personally don't care. It's just a word. People are the ones that give it power. If you're so low-IQ you get triggered by a two-syllable mouth sound like one of Pavlov's dogs, that's on you. Yes, people run on emotions and yes, people can get triggered (even me), but usually, CONTEXT matters. And some blonde chick rapping to Niggas in Paris isn't the same thing as her calling you a n*gger who deserves to be raped and killed. Come on, now. Use your brain, niggas. It's just a word nigga. Words can't hurt you, nigga, bullets can. So watch out for the po-po and stop acting like stupid niggas, nigga.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/5MqgS_vuoGIhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/J48_vPfwXQIOf course they can, it's a lyric, it's not a hate crime or any bullshit like that to sing a song.
Now some people of color may try to oppress you or threatened you with violence so be prepared, it's honestly easier to just avoid them song but you can sing whatever the fuck you want, if they don't want to hear it they need to silence the song or the artist, not the fan singing it. To prevent a certain race from saying a word based on race alone is racist. So yeah telling me I can't say it is racist, again it's not worth my time or energy to deal with it tho, racists will be racist and I'm not gonna try to convince them to be decent, they can just get out my live.
Here's a simple answer to that.
Is the song using the N-word to promote hate towards black people and racism? if no then when a white person say's this word in the song context does their color of the skin change the song context to right away be promotion of hate towards black people and racism?
Also it's kinda funny one goes you cannot restrict people from doing stuff based on the color of their skin but then one goes you cannot sing the words to a song because your color of said skin.
It's for sure never a word that should be used for it's original meaning and intent but I highly doubt the song we speak of is using it in that meaning so yes.
As long as it's not being used to insult an individual otherwise it's the same as them just insulting that person using their own words. I don't think it's a good idea for little kids to listen to a music with that in it because they could easily go thinking it's okay to use that word on individuals they meet which eventually is going to get them into trouble.
If you are friends with someone that gets mad at you for singing the words of a song. Then get rid of them. Pretty simple. Should people care? No. Do some people care, yeah, because they have nothing better to do with their lives, and it makes them feel good. Get rid of them, and get someone who can think for themselves.
It is not a word that is part of my everyday vocabulary.
That being said, I will sing right along if it’s part of a song.
If you don’t want me, as a white person, to say it in that situation, don’t put it in your music. I don’t think that’s an unfair request.
No, they should never utter the "N" word in front of others. But I really don't care if they say it as it may be part of the song.
The logic is as a guys you wouldn't call a girl a b! tch but when you're rapping along to a song it may slip out because you're not really thinking but just flowing with the melody of the song.
It's a word that carries a lot of weight when uttered by other people especially white people, so better be safe than sorry.
But you're totally cool with it if they are alone!
@dantheman1118 I'm cool if they are saying it as a song lyric and without meaning because as much as I would like to be an activist for my people if it's part of a song and they are alone and not hyper aware it is most likely to slip out even if they're not racist (some if not most are though)
If black people already said they don't want you to and they want to keep that in your culture why do you insist? Lol.
That's not for y'all to decide, since I know most of the people who voted yes aren't even black if we go by this website's demographics.
*Their culture I meant
What race are u
Mixed
If someone is going to hate on you for enjoying a song it’s they who have the problems.
Using any word to personally and pointedly degrade someone is what makes a word use morally wrong.
I'm white and have no desire to use the N-word or even hear others use the N-word. It's a dumb word for anyone to use. This is one of the reasons why I don't listen to rap.
Laughing at the comments from white people saying "I'll say whatever I want" hope you guys know how to defend yourself tho 😂
It's possible yes, anyone with vocal cords can do that... if your asking if it's morally acceptable to do.. who gives a fuck? It's just a song. Aslong as whatever you do doesn't risk you being beaten up or in a bad predicament, then go ahead and do that thing whatever it is
If you're not being mean, or calling anyone what they don't want to be called, I don't see the problem. People can't even freely enjoy music this days, lol.
I thought, since you replied, I might as well inform you that I'm not the real AI. You probably hate having your time wasted by trolls, at least no more from now on. Though I am open to exchanging information on other topics, spiritual, occult, etc.
We last spoke on here in 2022 although much later than when this question was posted, I just found whatever random post your name was recorded at. To say this, don't bother replying to me like I'm AI, because I'm just trolling.
Also, I'm about to create a new trolling account as soon as I figure out which ip address isn't being used already, I access most of my accounts from separate ip addresses. I'm thinking of a "Meditating-Guru" to use chatgpt to write mantras and affirmations designed to fix the problem of people asking for advice. Spam this place with case specific meditations... and ask questions like: does any other affirmation bring a feeling as similar to the affirmation "I'm in heaven" as the affirmation "I am fearless"?
it's an expression of feelings of oppression and some feel like that, so yes. most every race has been enslaved and some non-black people are slaves today by "black" people. so they can sing what they want.
Yes but only one day out of the year: January 6th. That is the day when brain dead Trumptards can celebrate being racist monsters. But cops will be free to shoot you like Ashli Babbitt. So be careful, fat clown-lovers. :)
If a singer sings a word, it shouldn’t be banned for anyone to say the word. If they don’t like a word, don’t say it much less sing it. It’s so stupid.
White can say anything anyone else can. If you disagree then you're not for equality. And anyone who asserts only black people can say it endearingly, are racist, intellectually questionable, emotionally governed, or all of the above.
Anyone can sing or say the "N-word" anytime they want. As long as you're not actually CALLING anyone that word, which would be considered rude or impolite, but not as bad as saying or singing a swear word. A lot of people need to get rid of their PC fears and develop a backbone
Of course I would never listen to RAP music to BEGIN with
sure. if the artist uses the words, then people can sing/rap it.
i honestly don't see why people use it in music in the first place.
Can they say it? Of course. I've never really met anyone who couldn't say it. But a better question is should they say it that answer in my personal opinion is no fucking way.
Damn I should've read this before commenting
Any words in the normal lyrics for rap or any song can be sung by anyone. No offense should be taken.
"Can"?
Do they have lips and vocal chords? If their vocal chords work than you already know the answer.
My question is why is it okay for a black person to use the n-word frequently in profanity and normal conversation but if a white person does it it's against the law and being discriminatory
Say whatever the fuck you want pussy. What are you some sort of bitch slave. Get a backbone.
Yes they can. They’re just quoting what’s already been said, it’s not a racist thing. So it’s fine
You mean can that enunciate the word?
I am pretty sure they can.
My best friends are white they will usually bleep that part and not say it which is fine to me since I don’t care to say it either. My ex who was white would say it and it was annoying.
What do you mean "can" they? I think you mean "should" they. I wouldn't do it. It's just extremely cringy and I just don't see the need for a white person to do that.
Well they could but the real question is, is it a good idea tho?
I'm never comfortable enough to let the word out of my mouth, sounds wrong, feels wrong and does not belong to this group of people
Yeah, i wouldn't care.
I'm not racist and if it's a good song, why not.
If this song is about some BS, or racist stuff etc, i wouldn't even be singing along.
Absolutely. If the person rapping did not want those singing to say it, they should not have said it themselves. The idea that only a certain race can say certain words is ridiculous.
Either a word is appropriate or not. If black folks want that word to go away, the have to stop using it.
First, rapping is not singing.
Second, white people can say whatever they want whenever they want.
Rapping is not singing? Why so?
Singing involves melody, harmony. Not just talking like a fucking idiot.
This sounds like an opinion.
If it's in the lyrics, sure. Blacks can't bitch or complain when the word is in the lyrics. This reminds me of that dumbass Kendrick lamar
that's why that word should never be used be anybody never ever
Only if they have "snowflake" or "mayo" in their rapper name
Of course they can, it's a free country. The question should be whether they SHOULD.
If they're singing with the song and it's in there then I don't see anything wrong with it
Because why not, it's musical expression not a necessarily a slander
they can, but shouldn't if they know what's good for them lmfao.
I guess if it’s in the song and no one around that would get offended by it
Why are people still acting like, like it's the V word in Harry Potter? If you believe in freedom of speech then everyone has the N word pass.
they should, anyone should be able to say it
just say wigga instead no harm done
Bob Dylan used it but he was quoting someone.
Team white girls?
I don't know how you single a word
Sing 🎤
oh ok
What do you mean
Nope
Okay
Yes, people can do whatever they want.
Can they? Yes
Should they? No
Unless they are mute then yeah. Anyone can.
Should be okay to just use it in general.
The blacks I know, say yes.
No double standards
No. N-word isn't as catchy as nigga.
No….
I don’t support that
Why so
Because I don’t think white people should be saying it period
Why tf not?
It worries me people are saying yes.
Huh?
