Put me down for a bookstore any chance I get.
Grant, they are - sadly - harder to find than they use to be and I won't lie, I do use Amazon from time to time. However, there is nothing quite like browsing a bookstore and finding that gem that you did not know was there. You just can't do that online.
To my mind, one of life's little pleasures that have been loss in our techno-utopia is the bookstore. Suffice to add that I still go to the bookstore any chance I get.
To wit, when I moved a few years ago, the movers estimated the weight of my book collection at over 2 tons.
Depends on the book. I prefer pdf's in most cases and audiobooks on audible. Barnes and Noble/Kindle are second to those for me. I like having my books on the go with me, but I prefer the layout for PDFs over Kindle. If a book wasn't specifically designed for Kindle then it doesn't read well.
I and my parent buy my books from various sources including used book stores. Algebra doesn't change so a 50 year old algebra is just as one that new. That applies to all math books. And, the 50 year old used algebra book is 10% of the price. A 60 year old American history text book, if you also include modern material is better than new because, they are rewritten history to be politically correct.
I buy my books from second hand, I have a few authors I love, marian keyes, fiona walker and Chris Manby, already bought their books new but end up reading them again so just buy second hand now

I order them online if I already know what I want. If I want to browse through books and find some new ones to read, I generally go to the bookstore.
In my experience the internet is just very inconvenient to discover new books to read.
Dude, I'm the ultimate book s1ut. If i brought books, I'd hafta sell my soul.
I frequent a used book store, I have so many that I need not go there for years. Many of the books were "like" new barely touched. The owner who died recently would buy up failed book store inventories. They had ( since stopped ) a dollar sale. I got 44 books for 44 $..
I don't pay for books anymore. I will just take one from the library donation bin or the free book swap table in the lobby of my gym.
That's cool, what's the best book you found from these places?
A book on epigenetics.
Thrift website etc…If a new scratch and dent frig will work then a cheaper scratch and dent book works too.
Kindle for most. Real books for my fav authors. I’ll get them where I can find them, either somewhere local or online.
I prefer book stores that sell lots of used books as well as new books. The prices are better, and best of all, you never know what you might find
Amazon. I used to buy them in person at the local book store but it closed years ago so since then I buy them on Amazon.
I marked B & N, but buy from Amazon too, and from Albertson's book rack sometimes.
Bought Atlas Shrugged from B & N.
I like the used-book websites. Thriftbooks is my favorite.
Websites. I can also get the classics in audioformat for free on YouTube. I just convert that to mp3 and download.
If I go to a shop to buy a book it's usually Waterstones, but otherwise on Amazon.
I go to Barnes and Nobel. Sometimres I can find a good book at BJs Wholesale club too. Mostly I have been taking them out of the library.
Lately I only have time for online books I use kindle a lot of audio or Libby
If I do buy books, it's digital ebooks. I see no point in buying physical copies anymore. They're a waste of space.
What's a book lol. But honestly I don't really buy books anymore and just watch the movies or TV shows. I sometimes do go to my local library to check a boo out If I really want to read.
And if you EVER have a chance to go to England, Hay-on-Wye has the largest collection of antique books on the planet outside of the Vatican.
My oldest book is from 1717.
I found some absolute treasures in that place.
This is in general but of the 50 establishments in that town, 40 are antique book stores.
I'm a bibliophile that needed an intervention because I was becoming a hoarder.
I went through every single book and still donated 30 bags of books to the local used book store.
I have my favorites in my study and still have three footlockers full that I will never get rid of.
Walking into a bookstore or a library and inhaling old glue and leather and paper... transports me.
Where in Hay on Wye? Isn't that a town in Wales? Or am I getting it wrong?
Cool. I'll enquire about it. I'm interested in books myself. Thanks for the info.
Your oldest book, was it really published in that date?
@Tstrbrainer yup.
I've got a few. 1796 Methodist hymnal, 1821 autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, 1836 history of Sir Francis Drake, first editions of Black Arrow and Ivanhoe.
Ivanhoe is a beautiful story.
@Tstrbrainer agreed.
How are these books preserved?
How much did it cost?
@Tstrbrainer
40 pounds
That sounds expensive
@Tstrbrainer it was only about $75.
For that old of book, I got a deal.
Still, that's expensive for me.
But usually old books are supposed to be even more expensive, right?
@Tstrbrainer usually, yes.
Are you from Wales?
@Tstrbrainer USA.
I was in Hereford training with the military then.
Okay. Which is your favorite book?
@Tstrbrainer
Too many to say.
The Long Walk had a profound impact on me.
Your favorite book ever.
@Tstrbrainer
Fiction, Lord of the Rings.
Historical fiction, The Frontiersman. Stories about the early settlers in the colonies.
History, Drake. History of Sir Francis Drake published in 1836.
Adventure, The Long Walk. A history of political prisoners escaping from a Siberian prison during WW2. Amazing story.
What is Long Walk about?
@Tstrbrainer
The Long Walk. A history of political prisoners escaping from a Siberian prison during WW2. Amazing story.
Sorry I didn't see the last part. I was searching for Drake.
I haven't read much compared to you. But I mostly love fiction
