Did Hellsing miss a chance?

So we all know The Captian is a Nazi werewolf. Yet that's pretty much all we know about him. Why wasn't he more fleshed out? I mean almost every other semi-important character was. Even those that only appeared in one episode.

I think its kind of the point
His just a nameless soilder no name, no history nothing
Only twise do we seem him give any real emotion, when Alcard relases all restrictions there he show fear of the monster that will rise becouse its so horrible and so much beyond
And in his end, where his happy to finly die
His opening the world and keep it open ended, I think its what they wanted to do
He was and remain nameless and unkown

I just think he had so much potential to be something truly unique

I mean he may have also been a complete dispointment
in place we get to imagen all the options
