I think in its traditional form, it is… but you almost have to look at it beyond the music now. It’s like “who has that rock and roll attitude and SPIRIT…” you know? Rock music might be the least relevant it’s ever been, but I’ve found a lot of that same energy and excitement in contemporary pop, rap, and electronic music, just for example…
Right now, I’m particularly excited about Skrillex’s new releases… his music has always been full of energy, pushed sonic boundaries… he got his start in rock bands… did he suddenly just lose all of his rock and roll cred when he started producing huge electronic records?
I’d argue he gained more… he brought that angsty sound and presented it in a more exciting and relevant way. Broke new ground for a lot of people. I kinda see him as a 21st century punk rocker. Music has changed considerably throughout the decades… the industry tries to desperately push and hold on to all these traditional idea, and definitions of structure and “genre,” and the public still holds on to a lot of these opinions as well, but technology has kind of blown the doors wide open in terms of what sounds can be created. You almost can’t look at it through that “old lens” anymore.
If you write a song that’s traditionally within the same range of tempo as a rock song, it moves and grooves like a rock song, has the attitude of a rock song, but it just happens to all be digital/synthetic sounds, is it just suddenly not a rock song? It might be defined as “EDM” or some sort of electronic sub-genre, but honestly, rock and punk music in the 70’s and 80’s started adopting heavy electronics, and the modern dance scenes spun off and away from all of that… so it’s kind of like, “make of that what you will.” 🤷♂️
Maybe rock and roll isn’t “dead”… it’s just different. This has been my realization as I’ve gotten older and continued branching out…

Yes, it was killed by Death Metal.
But seriously, rock and roll cannot "die". While its popularity may have fluctuated over the years, rock and roll continues to be a significant and influential genre in popular music. Many new rock artists continue to emerge and gain popularity, while classic rock acts remain popular and continue to tour and release new material.
Rock and roll has also influenced multiple generations and has been incorporated into many other genres of music.
While its specific sound and cultural significance may evolve over time, the spirit and energy of rock and roll will likely always remain a defining aspect of popular music.
That is BS. There is more good music out now than ever before. The problem is people are too lazy to look for it. Go on Bandcamp and you can find 100s of bands to listen to.

Its really not. It has once again faded from mainstream and is back in the hands of the counter culture. Where its supposed to be. It doesn't sound very much like Zeppelin, Foghat, Fleetwood Mac, Boston, RUSH, or Alice Cooper anymore. But that's not a bad thing.
We still have all the old goodies. But Rock n Roll has evolved into something new and refreshing. There's plenty of good artists out there. You just have to look a little harder now.
Side note: Imagine Dragons and Fallout Boy are NOT rock.I listen to a rock station whenever I workout and I'm actually surprised how many awesome new rock songs there are right now. I do think a lot of people are into hip hop right now and sleeping on rock music, but there is some awesome Rock music happening.
It never was alive to begin with. It had a couple of years, but it's always been pretty shit.
Maybe in the "purest" sense. But no, it's just the current evolution of it.
Rock and roll will never die.
NO, Rock n Roll will never, ever, die.
Lol no.
