What do you collect? And what is the coolest thing in your collection?

A long time ago, I worked at a bank and customers would bring their coins to be run and exchanged for bills. Often foreign coins would get thrown in their coins and the machine would spit them out. I'd always ask if they wanted the coins back - usually they said no and that there was the start of a new collection. I wondered how many different places i could find coins for. I still have them in a tin container tucked in a drawer. I haven't looked at them in years.
Then around that time I started collecting old barbies that were still in their boxes. My most favorite is the brunette bubble cut from 1963 in her original box.
My family took my barbie collecting and generalized it into just doll collecting 🙃 as I ended up inheriting a small collection of German bisque dolls from around the turn of the century - the oldest being from 1890.
Recently, I've been collecting Rae Dunn pottery (mugs, canisters, cellars, etc) I like the modern farmhouse look and her pieces fit in well.
Canvas paintings (20+) , skateboards (20+), movie/tv show dvds (1000+), cds (300+)... I have some hot wheels, game consoles, video games, snowglobes, shoes, backpacks, jackets, and other stuff... But those were never with the intention of collecting. Just more so happening to own a lot of them. My goal is to have at least 50 skateboards in life and I also want to collect surfboards down the line

I also have a cell phone collection of all my phones 7th grade and up
Mostly records but also Mad and National Lampoon magazines and old cartoons from the `30's to the `50's.
One of the coolest things that was in my record collection was a Glenn Miller 78 with his autograph on one side! But, as I've got over 60,000 records, there's a lot of really cool ones!
As for my Mad;'s, I guess the coolest one is the earliest one I've got. Number 26. The Spring Issue. The third one that was released in magazine form.
As for the Lampoons, I don't know that there was any of them that were exceptionally cool. They were all cool. I had every issue up to the early `00's. By then, they went bi-monthly and I could never keep track of when they'd release so, they were really hard to find.
If I had a record player, I would buy LPs. I solemnly believe, music sounds best, more natural, and SOLID on those vinyl records. CD and streamed music sounds too unnaturally perfect. What keeps me from buying one is rhe fact that records are are hard to get for the same price as used CDs and i hate buying just 1, 2 or 3 at a time.
@HaveNoName It sure does! And there are still record players for sale, the only problem is, if you want to go cheap, you GET cheap!! And, if you want something even normally better, you practically have to pay through the nose for something I bought foot just over $100 in the `80's!!
Part of the reason records sound better is because vinyl amplifies the low end!
There ARE record stores that sell great stuff pretty cheap! It's the greedy ones that want book prices for everything that ruin it for everyone else. Jerry sells most of his stock for $3 to $5 a piece!! https://youtu.be/uKHoF0_S_D0 In the same store is a guy that fixes and sells used stereo gear. He even has a couple cylinder players!! Jerry's son has another room in the place where he sells 78's.
Wow !! Thanks a million for that info @FunkyMonkee
What have you done !!! You have created a new desire inside of me. Now my wife will hate me even more 🤣🤣🤣
@HaveNoName Glad I could help! Just tell her you'll be able to dine at her little pink taco stand while listening to your records.
This, is where he lived!! https://youtu.be/15lKSqY86Ew
Knives and bad memories… ell oh ell!
I have a tanto knife with horn handle that’s completely impractical but gorgeous. That is probably my favorite. If i can share my experience of a memory with someone and it makes them laugh, it’s kind of worth it to carry that baggage around.
Got a pic?
No. Most of my collection is from before cellphones and digital cameras. I don’t presently have simple access to the lot. I probably should.

An N-1 Starfighter? That's awesome!
I collect firearms, although nothing really specific; I've wanted to collect a rifle from each side of WW2 and while I've got a Garand, M1 carbine, and a Springfield M1903 from the US side, 2 Mausers from the German side, 1 Lee Enfield from the Brits and 3 Mosin Nagants, I've yet to source a decent Arisaka from the Japanese side.
Outside of that, I just like oddball looking guns or ones that catch my eye.
I'm saving my pennies for GAU-8 Avenger.
@Guardian45 you want some BRRRRRRRT?
Because it sounds like you want some BRRRRRRRRRRRT.
You call that a gun? THIS is a GUN!

@Guardian45 🤣🤣🤣
I take it you want a functional weapon. I imagine, maybe wrongly, that a replica would be easy to find. Given Japan’s gun control system, if you do find the firearm you want, it’s going to be pretty expensive if you’re permitted to acquire it at all.
a lot of stuff dealing with the Far Cry games, from T-shirts, fan art, to custom made Pop figures. I even made my own shadowbox for Far Cry 5. If I had to pick the coolest thing in my collection, it would be Troy Baker's autograph. I got a gold frame since Pagan loves his gold... and crab rangoon lol.
I used to collect stamps when we went to China every 2-5 years but we no longer visit China so I stopped collecting Chinese stamps. My uncle told us a murder happened in his neighbours apartment so we don’t feel comfortable living in his house during our trips back anymore.
The N-1. Probably the best looking fighter in the franchise.
I collect CDs, I can't go anywhere without having music playing
flags, I really couldn't explain why though lol
drinking glasses, I'm a bit of a beer snob
Antique rifles, I'm a huge history buff and think guns are really neat contraptions so I combine the two into one hobby. A very expensive one too.
Boxers, I like nice underwear so if I see any with neat interesting designs I have to have them.
Oh wow i never knew you collected cds
Ex's, they are all buried out back.
Just kidding, pressed pennies from places I've visited and Christmas ornaments too from place I travel to.
Ya, I'm STILL sore!
Guitars, Lord of the Rings, actually J. ZR. R. Tolkien, memorabilia, and Kotobukiya Super Hero action figures. The coolest is probably the Gandalf figure from Ralph Bakshi's 1978 version of The Lord of the Rings, just because it is rare to find one still in the box.
J. R. R. Tolkien. I need an edit button.
Teddy Bears... Of which one is around 100 years old and has been handed down through the family... It is now about to be moved down yet again to our four month old daughter.
My dead girlfriend gave one!
I own a Teddy bear which my girlfriend, who died, gave me.
I do. Thank you.
I collect old tech. I have a radio that is from the 1930s. It used to pick up police calls too. It is a little staticky but it works,
I collect rocks my children bring me. The coolest thing in my collection is a rock that my children gave me.
Used have the millennium falcon, an old y wing and B-wing, as well as a rebel transport.
Remember it all well. My brother and I use to react empire strikes back and return of the jedi.
Also had roj sarlac pit game
I collect anything sci-fi, fantasy, or science related.
I honestly don't think I could pick a favorite though, I like too many of them.. ._.
Maybe the custom mechs? 🤔
I collect coins. I have a complete collection (every year and mint) of Lincoln head cents from 1909 to 2022, including the rarest 1909S VDB.
I collect fairies, rocks, and glass soda bottles.

memories of places I have visited.
We have a huge collection of dogs over 500. Biggest one is about three foot tall, looks almost real. We have it looking out the bedroom window.
*WOW* IMPRESSIVE!
I unwillingly collect broken relationships. I REALLY need to get a BETTER hobby!
That’s pretty cool my son has one of those I Collect diecast model cars Some hockey cards, and a little bit of Star Wars
Video games. coolest? hmmm probably my super nintendo. my favorite system ever
If I had more money I would collect suits and watches
Not really. I have a couple coins, some statuettes of characters like Black Cat.
What kind of coins? As a kid my mom and i had one of those books where you place a quarter from each state. We were just short of 3.
Pennies, foreign coins, silver and gold dollars, half dollar. Just random stuff. I had all the state quarters at one point in that exact map, but my dad needed the money at the time, so he took em.
Yea we used ours too since we couldnt find the last 3 quarters
Me I don’t collect anything…
I’ve just building up my tools tho…
Hope that helps
I don't anymore. I use to collect everything Taz. I realized it was just more clutter.
That is fuckin sweet. Love the original naboo starfighter
I collect Rocks not the garden kind but the precious kind rocks and gems. I have quite the collection.
Lego sets.
Do you actually build them?
The first time i tried to build a Lego model, it immediately became my last. It was a GD nightmare! Ell oh ell!
@Chazmatazz269 ... I really LOVE building them. :) A lot are on display around the house. Thankfully my wife likes them too!
Vinyl, CDs and other music related goodies.
Guns. My pride and joy is my M1A
Music CDs.
by the way, I never spend the prIce of a new CD. I always get them "used" . If it is a CD that I really want and cannot get anywhere else, I go to Used option from Amazon. If a CD is less than a dollar, you pay $4 for shipping and it becomes a good deal. But my favorite places are Flea Markets and Thrift stores. Over there, I just get a whole bunch; normally 12-18 for less than $2 for 2.
But do you own the original vhs trilogy?
i collect nothing. I hate clutter
What’s up with your goofy smile?
Dead presidents.
I buy and build Lego sets😀
Hot wheels
snow globes
dust
Very cool
