Why is it in Hollywood movies you never see a man punching/kicking a woman despite the fact she is usually trying to kill him?

I remember in the old classic 1990 Total Recall movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger there is a scene where his fake wife (Sharon Stone) tries to kill him after he discovers he’s really a spy. She both tried to shoot him and stab him with a knife. He knocks her out with a punch to the jaw after he forced her to talk at gunpoint (in self defense). Just one punch but she more then deserved it (last part of the video)

Later he shoots her in the head when she was just about to shoot him.

However fast forward 25+ years later. Of every action, superhero, crime/drama I’ve seen I have never seen a man physically hit a woman in any combat scene. He might throw her to the ground or even shoot her. But you never see a man punching or kicking a woman despite she’s often doing it to him (and trying to kill him).

Here is the fight scene between K (Ryan Gosling) and Luv (Slyvia Hoeks) from blade runner 2049. It’s a really good scene to a good movie. Best scene in my opinion. Also the characters they play aren’t even supposed to be human beings but genetically superior “replicants”

But notice how Luv beats the crap out of K with numerous kicks and punches in the beginning of their prolonged fight. K doesn’t even get one punch in or even TRY to hit her back. He drowns her later (which she more then deserves if saw the movie).

But is this just typical 100% Hollywood feminist bullshit that it’s never okay for a man to hit a woman even when she is trying to kill him?

A lot people commenting are misreading what I am saying. Sure there are still plenty of fight scenes between men and women. There always will be.

But in the last 10-15 years or so you rarely if ever see a man punching or kicking a woman. Doesn’t matter if it’s self defense or not. He might use an object, throw her (or drown her) but you never see a man actually hit a woman in the fight choreography (even if she’s evil). I don’t think that’s any coincidence.
