I feel that Michael Jackson's death was a terrible blow to the music industry. Do you agree?

I read, before his death that Fred Astaire wrote in praise of Jackson's dancing ability, which can hardly be denied by anyone that watched him perform. Sadly, Jackson said at one point that he would 'live forever' and perhaps he will live in the heart of his music and dance fans for many years after his death.

I don't want to hear any garbage about his 'alleged' child molestation accusations that money grubbing trash tried to extort from the man at the height of his career. If I get that from anybody, I will delete it and block the sender, as I am not posting this to generate that kind of trashy comments.

If you liked his music and dance... that is what I wanted to hear, not the downside trash that sadly followed the man to his grave.

The death of any talented musician is a blow to the industry: Prince, David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, George Harrison, John Lennon.

Most, likely, had years of music still to give to fans, record companies and their songbooks.

Sadly, Jackson was addicted to painkillers, as was Prince because they'd injured themselves dancing and were in pain.

Bowie and Harrison were many packs a day smokers and cancer felled them. Lennon was the victim of a crazed killer. Winehouse also had an addiction problem.

These extremely talented people didn't get the help they needed to avoid the pitfalls that ended their lives. The entertainment industry is a hard taskmaster.

I don't know, but I know it's certainly sad and terrible.

I'm not sure that it was a blow to the industry, his legacy does live on. For those that enjoyed his music and showmanship, they won't forget it. I'm not sure that he could bring anything more to the industry than he already did.

@Drewtate that is and always will be the case with any entertainer, or recording artist, Michael Jackson was wealthy by any standard of measure. Super athletes earn a great deal, but the clubs they play for profit immensely. That is the way of the world and money.

@Oterman68 I do understand that the balloon cannot go up forever, but he did leave a mark on music and dance, that will be remembered fondly by many for a long time. He was 50 at the time of his death, and no one really knows what he was capable of doing if he had lived as long as someone like Madonna who is , I think in her sixties.
