What are the political implications of new movies being nothing but girl power and re-makes?

Some movies seemed somewhat appealing... but the bulk of them...

I mean, if they weren't some pre-2000's remake, it was some fantasy land girl power stuff.

Where are we going with this?

No wonder people reclude into only watching horror movies... the normal stuff is... it is what it is. But I want to know your thoughts...

I remember seeing somewhere that out of all the movies getting released to cinemas this year, only three of them are original stories and not a reboot, remake, or sequel.

The Hollywood studios, to include most of the animation companies have some absurd quotas in the name of "diversity" that are actually blatantly illegal, discriminatory hiring practices. The result is that the writers especially are overwhelmingly unqualified and untalented activist hacks who are too stupid to make their own material, so they hijack someone else's work and swap out some characters. A recent whistleblower from Disney exposed that they rejected dozens if not hundreds of pitches for totally new stories solely because the people who pitched them was the wrong race or gender identity, or the stories (most if not all based on foreign folklore around the world) didn't push the agenda they wanted.

To put it bluntly, this trend isn't going to change until these studios either undergo a massive leadership culling, or they close down and give ground to new companies. Some of them, or at least Disney, Paramount, and Lions Gate are still in active denial and fully committed to stay the course for the foreseeable future.

@genericname85 said it best. There is almost no political implications but the writing is definitely being influenced by left leaning political correctness. There are some good reads out there about how Hollywood (which was once very conservative) turned liberal/socialist. It’s a fascinating topic because as it happened in obscurity it simultaneously happened right in front of us.


I like a strong female lead. They definitely make for a good movie. Most main characters have exaggerated charm, skill, power, or influence which is why it’s a movie and not a documentary. Once they tilt into full “woman power” films like that abomination that was Ghostbusters 3 (AKA: Ghostbusters Answer the Call) with the all female team, I’m out. I don’t have the tolerance for the nearly mandatory male stupidity, and pure ignorance incompetence, and women are strong because they are women and say so. Give me real character development, not a reboot of a woman playing a male role.


Also, the profits and plummeting stock of many of these major studios is starting to catch their eye and they are coming back to center of the road politics. Hollywood will never be too far from the left but the massive success of productions that don’t faithfully tow the party line are, in the end, the only way to change them.

i don't see that happening but with what they're doing with the movies they're going to continue to lose a lot of money over the next 10 years.

they just said the other day they're losing billions because more people are watching old TV shows on streaming (like 1960s 70s 80s) because there's nothing good to watch that is new

We can only expect box office bombs nowadays. Extremely funny Brie Larson said she don't need a white man to tell her, with A Wrinkle In Time, and scored herself a $131 mill box office loss on a production budget of $103 mill.

Even funnier to hear studios castigating fans for not liking their DEI themes. Oh those nasty fans rejecting movies. How dare they!

i don't think that these movies are impacting politics. i think it's the other way around. politics are influencing movie makers to get them to create crappy movies that are pure propaganda for shit that the society does not want or like.

you can actually see that directly in their profit margins. they're trying to push their ideologies at the cost of their own profit. what's how far it got. but the fact that their profits drop shows that this shit doesn't work and that's the silver lining to me.

The Marvel movies are going to hell partly because of this kind of crap. Some of the earlier movies were cribbed right out of comic books from the 60s and 70s. They seem to have abandoned that and instead are trying to make the movies as woke as possible
