How long should a prologue be?

in a book I writing for Wattpad l originally planned on making the prologue a oneshot but since the first chapter pick up where the prologue left off I thought I do my readers a service and turn the oneshot into a prologue that way they won't have to read a separate story to understand what going on however I didn't expect for it to reach almost 3000 words I foreshadowed aton of stuff introduced the protag, their parents, and important characters to the story and spent a lot of time in flashback land and the remainder of the prologue in present day then the protag leave the hospital and we see her relationship with her parents, classmates, and therapist once she leaves the hospital and I was wondering if I was making the prologue too long with that information.

I always give the same advice if you want to work productively on writing: Set yourself limits and a rule set in which you are allowed to operate. Limit yourself as good as you can. If you want to cover everything under the moon, people will lose interest. You have to figure out the most important and elemental part of the prologue and focus on that thing. The one detail that ties everything together and makes the reader interested in your story.

If you write it too long and add too much, the reader will have forgotten about it by page 50. They wouldn't know to what to pay attention to. Once you get to the parts that matter in your story due to the foreshadowing and they will have an insanely long prologue to go through, do you really think they would look it up again? They probably forgot already that it was supposed to be important information.

On the side, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you write your project the same way you wrote your question here. If your prologue is in the same style, they will tune out pretty quickly. But After all, this is GAG so I try not to judge on post punctuation.
