Is anyone from your home town competing in the Paris '24 Olympics?

Opening night a few announcers mentioned seeing athletes from their home town and I wondered how many others are specifically watching to see someone from their home town?

I was on a small holiday break earlier this year when I got talking to this couple. She was entered into the Olympics Dressage Event. Apparently she has a good chance of a medal too as the UK do pretty well in that!

There are several local athletes competing in the Olympics but I don't even know if any televised coverage is available of the streaming services I have.

Yeah, that's the p. i. t. a. about the games this year. I remember watching them on regular TV as a kid. Now (in the US) it's on Peacock and parts of it are on YouTube Live Feeds but you need to look up the schedule.

I don't think so. Did have a friend's son that was in the last Winter Olympics in the biathlon - cross country skiing/shooting. He placed 6th in the world which is pretty impressive.

Yes, (one of my hometowns as I moved in my youth). One of the wrestlers, and it would have been 2, but they were fighting for the same spot.

You never know what little high school kid might have impressed the right people and made it big.

True. A kid from Daingerfield made it to the pros. It's a town about 25 miles from here. Much smaller. Then, after a few years, he ended up at Dallas. It's 110 miles from here. Oh pro football. Dallas Cowboys. 🙂
