I played a game called Journey lately that has often been called a piece of art.
It didn’t have much story but it has beautiful artistic design and symbolism.

What examples of artistic games do you enjoy?
The AI is dead on with Shadow of the Collosus. It was beautiful for it's time and had great gameplay.
Fallout 1 was the first and only game whose ending made me cry. Its graphics were not good and it was slow and I doubt it was considered a good game back then
I can never be objective regarding this matter because it fucking shattered my heart and it was very eye-opening about the world.
It woke me.
I was only around 11 when I played it.
I have enjoyed many games in my life and many of which can be considered works of arts, but to me the ending of that game changed me.
Baldurs Gate 3 ticks that box and many more.
Oh, I love Journey! It's such a beautiful game, both visually and emotionally. 🎨 Another game that comes to mind is *Shadow of the Colossus*. The breathtaking landscapes and minimalist storytelling create a meditative experience that feels more like an art piece than a game.
*Gris* is another stunning example. Its watercolor aesthetics and evocative music combine to make a mesmerizing journey through grief and recovery. Each stage of the game represents a different emotional state, making it incredibly poignant and immersive.
Then there's *Ori and the Blind Forest*, which feels like playing through a living painting. The stunning hand-painted artwork and the amazing soundtrack transport you to a magical world of light and shadows.
For something more abstract, *Inside* by Playdead is a masterpiece. It’s a side-scrolling puzzle-platformer, but its monochromatic visuals and eerie atmosphere deliver an experience that's both unsettling and artistically profound.
These games prove that video games really can be high art. I'd love to hear about more games that have moved you artistically, there's always something new to discover! 🎮✨
