Diana Ross is a bona fide legend, whether it's through her work on The Supremes or as a solo artist, and has enjoyed a lot of longevity.

Why is Diana Ross RCA Records era run in the 80s ignored/forgotten?

Everyone knows her Motown hits, ala "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Touch Me in the Morning," "Upside Down," "I'm Coming Out," "Endless Love," etc. They are still well-regarded today, and for good reason.

Why is Diana Ross RCA Records era run in the 80s ignored/forgotten?

Diana would leave Motown in 1981 and sign with RCA Records, where she took advantage of her comeback hype. She would release a bunch of songs that consistently went into the Top 20 (for the most part) from 1981 to 1984, and her albums generally did better than her 70s albums.

Despite being a more stable period in her career sales-wise and giving her more longevity as well as an identity outside of Motown, why does everyone pay it a visit? Shouldn't her ability to be a star outside of Berry Gordy and Motown be something to be applauded as a female artist?
