Diana Ross is a bona fide legend, whether it's through her work on The Supremes or as a solo artist, and has enjoyed a lot of longevity.

Everyone knows her Motown hits, ala "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Touch Me in the Morning," "Upside Down," "I'm Coming Out," "Endless Love," etc. They are still well-regarded today, and for good reason.

Diana would leave Motown in 1981 and sign with RCA Records, where she took advantage of her comeback hype. She would release a bunch of songs that consistently went into the Top 20 (for the most part) from 1981 to 1984, and her albums generally did better than her 70s albums.
Despite being a more stable period in her career sales-wise and giving her more longevity as well as an identity outside of Motown, why does everyone pay it a visit? Shouldn't her ability to be a star outside of Berry Gordy and Motown be something to be applauded as a female artist?
