Should we merge Halloween and Christmas?

On the practical side, I'm not sure Christians in general will like merging Halloween and Christmas. On the other hand, the Catholic church has merged so many old pre-christian traditions, among which many Celtic ones. One more or less won't make a big difference. The meanings of both celebrations are still very different...
The months November and December are becoming rather heavy with celebrations: Halloween, Christmas, Santa Claus, Santa Lucia, etc... Having fun a few days, that's nice, but too much becomes too much, not to mention all the annoying business around those days... I guess all this to be part of Natural Evolution in some way. The future will tell us how things will have evolved ;0)
Nah. I'm not a Christian and those holidays don't have any religious significance for me.
I like them both. They have completely different auras and intentions. I like the fun combination of Christian and pre-Christian traditions that have evolved around both.
In America, we transition from the whimsical Halloween celebrations on Oct.31st to Thanksgiving on the 28th of November, which is a celebration of thanks for Earth's bounty at the end of harvest season. That sets the stage for Christmas season in December.
Christmas is cheerful, with lights, decorations, gift giving, feasting, charity, and good will toward all.
Christmas originated as a celebration of the winder solstice when the days would begin to get longer and warmer, and spring would approach with the environment returning to life.
It is completely different from Halloween.
Definitely not. Halloween and Christmas have two different purposes. IT is illogical to merge them and do what worship baby Jesus lying in a pumpkin? Totally out of the question.
nah... the more, the merrier :D people need "excuses" for attending parties :D
Merging Halloween and Christmas might seem logical at first, since both holidays do bring cheer to darker months. However, each has a distinct cultural and historical significance with its own themes. Halloween focuses on spookiness and the supernatural, while Christmas emphasizes joy, family, and goodwill. Keeping them separate allows us to enjoy the unique traditions each holiday brings. Plus, having two festivals gives us more opportunities to celebrate! 🎃🎄

It wouldn't be a bad idea give candy his gifts LOL and gifts for bags of candy or bicycle or stereo MP3
The first time I took my daughter trick or treating
I told her you got to knock on the door and say trick or treat
she'd say okay we go to the door she would knock on it the people would answer and she would say Merry Christmas
and I would laugh and I would tell her no it's trick or treat she would say okay
the next she would go to the door. Knock. And say merry Christmas
And just start laughing

As a European, I'd rather see another holiday added in between. In the USA they have Thanksgiving in November and that helps to structure the run-in to Christmas. We don't have that, so decorations start going up earlier every year and as soon as Halloween is out the way the consumer side of Christmas seems to go into full gear.
Yeah , I kinda like the idea of a merger , maybe a gradual transformation? So those right into decorating houses etc , could say run Halloween into mid November , then slowly change bits and pieces , and maybe Trick / Treating could morph into Wine/ Cheese , and they concept and greater goodwill would continue for months.
Plus potential commercial ideas involved..
Think you are on to something there , patent it..
Maybe even transition decorations? New Industry.
corporate america already did that... Christmas started in August and includes all hollidays between.
can you imagine a witch coming down your chimney to bring "presents". lol...
You don't seem to know much about Christmas. You're certainly not a christian or anything like that.
So you should merge them as it suits you.
But actual christians who celebrate Christmas would think you're crazy lol
8 weeks of witches, goblins, Christmas trees and angels? No thank you!
I think those holidays exist to make those sad months a little bit more friendly.
Don't give stores any MORE reason to start setting out Christmas stuff in July - I'm sure they would love it, but I don't.
No, the more the merrier! Gives us more time to focus on each. re-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft
It would basically be the nightmare before Christmas. I'd be down for that actually.
not bad but each have different reasons for celebrating
Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas movie has tried this. It did not work.
No lets just leave it 2 different holidays. You know just like it is now.
Every thought that enters your brain does not need to be expressed.
We kind of already have, everyone starts celebrating Christmas right around the end of October
Christmas doesn’t cheer up the darker months it’s against it
IMHO, that would be like trying to merge Satan with God. Who would tolerate something like that? I would be very interested to hear what Rick Wiles from TruNews would think about this.
No, both are beautiful separately.
Yes, it would be a lot easier.
No and that’s really stupid.
Jack skellington proved it can’t be done
Like in Nightmare Before Christmas?
No way! That makes no sense.
No, because Halloween is not a religious holiday.
NOOO
No, why?
God NO!!
