11 moYes. All it usually is is a loser that gets superpowers and gets to be badass. That appeals to losers. Then for people like me the idea of a loser entering my realm of control is competition... I will destroy them. Oh... but their newfound powers are always so bad ass that they could keep me from punching them in the mouth and literally knocking out all their teeth and probably giving them brain damage.
It's porn for losers—nothing more and nothing less.
In the natural world, we mark off our territory, and we don't fuck with each other. If he does it's war. If some newcomer comes into our space and fucks with both of us... that's an alliance and we will both stomp that mother fucker out of life and throw him in a garbage can together. Is what it is. We maintain power.
But back to the fantasy... they eliminate me, and/or push us into controlled. The movie progresses and they win against the real bad guys. It's a stupid fucking fantasy.

A super hero genre that actually peaks my interest is the Unbreakable, Split, Mr. Glass series done by M knight Shalaman. That makes you think about the true struggle of being super in any way, because it comes with flaws that can be taken advantage of.
Anyways, I have the power of big dick energy... who wants to suck it? - 11 mo
Their superpowers are cops, the department of justice, and woke politics…all being protected by the intelligence community defense contractors and zionists. The losers really are running the plow at the dirt level, matriarchy for thee legacy families for me.

The last few that I can think of are:
1. Spider-Man (2002)
2. The Christopher Nolan Batman movies. Heath Ledger as The Joker gave one of the best acting performances of all time - any film.
3. To a small extent, Man of Steel (2013). Michael Shannon as General Zod was amazing.
4. While I haven't seen it yet, the newest Superman movie is allegedly good.
5. Not Marvel or DC... Watchmen (2009)
This is not a superhero movie, per se, but it should be in a sense...
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
This was an amazing film on so many levels. I wish Roger Ebert had been alive to have seen it. Tom Cruise really is a good actor.00 Reply
Anonymous(18-24)11 moWell, cinema and movies are subjective all other art forms. Literally nothing about film is objective except for technical aspects like runtime and aspect ratio. I don't believe that all superhero movies are inherently bad; it's just that people have become incredibly picky nowadays, so they find most movies, or books lame, except for the classics, or those that were made prior to 2000-2010 max. (Blame streaming and the death of post cinema sales). i actually think superhero movies can be done right if it weren’t over saturated and doing the exact same formula for the millionth time.
I personally don’t enjoy superhero movies either, but they don’t bother me. They’re just another form of entertainment. The good news is that there are hundreds of movies for everyone to watch and enjoy without the need to belittle things that other people might enjoy...

Opinion Owner11 moUpdate: A commenter in here suggested that my original reply was intellectually narcissistic. I personally don't see it at all, considering how I never claimed my opinion was an absolute truth, nor did I attempt to invalidate anyone else's viewpoint, or dismiss other people's taste. I was simply commenting on the impact of trends in cinema and oversaturation of superhero movies? In fact, I even said that I'm fine with other people enjoying superhero movies, even though they're not my taste, which is the opposite of narcissism. On the other hand, calling someone’s preference bad, based on an objective standard, as the original comment seemed to suggest would lean more toward intellectual narcissism, because it implies that the person’s personal opinion should dominate the conversation, or that others should subscribe to the same point of view.
Also, that comment seems to place a lot of emphasis on the idea of objective quality being separate from personal opinion, but that doesn't fully account for the role audience perception plays in the life of a film. For example, a "masterpiece" might only be considered a masterpiece after it has had a cultural impact and connected with audiences over time. A film's quality isn't always inherent but is often shaped by the collective experiences and perceptions of its audience.
The claim that there’s an “inherent quality” to films suggests that there is a definitive, objective measure of what makes a movie "good" or "bad," but that’s a slippery argument. While technical elements (like editing, cinematography, sound design) can be evaluated objectively to an extent, the overall emotional or intellectual impact of a movie cannot be measured so strictly. What one person calls a "masterpiece" another might view as overrated or even boring.
Anonymous(18-24)11 moI do, yes. I can see how they are very well-made and expertly put together with all their intricacies and what-not, but they're just not for me. The things I like, I'm sure there are other people who thing those are lame.

11 moYes, at this point in my life I think I’ve personally outgrown them and am just into different stuff. I did enjoy some of the older ones, though, and I get why a lot of people are into them.
Also, I just wanted to mention that inherent quality does exist. I saw someone on here trying to claim that it doesn’t, but it does. You can see a bad film and still like it, but whether you like something or not has nothing to do with whether it’s actually good on an objective level. You can also hate a genuine masterpiece, but again, that doesn’t mean it’s inherently bad. It’s just your personal opinion, which doesn’t govern objective reality. It’s just your personal taste. That’s why if you don’t like a movie you simply say “I didn’t like that one.” Not make a blanket statement like “that movie is bad” as if your opinion makes it so. To believe that your personal opinions are the end-all, be-all, truth, is called egocentrism or intellectual narcissism.
The opposite of that would be to say something like “I get that it’s not a very good movie but I love it and it’s one of my favorites!” Or if you didn’t like something that is objectively good, saying something along the lines of “Yeah, I get that this is a great movie and all but I personally just don’t like it,” which is everyone’s right, and all subjective opinions are valid ones, but trying to deny the existence of inherent quality isn’t the right way to go about it.
A good example would be the original Jurassic Park movie vs Jurassic World: Dominion. It’s perfectly ok to like Dominion over the original JP, but that’s only your opinion, which has no bearing on the fact that the original JP is the better quality film by all objective measures.00 Reply741 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. It's just overdone. Whenever companies find money somewhere they want to turn it into a formula and then it starts to die. But some movies are still good. I don't think I'll ever get tired of Batman as long as it's done well. The Spiderman animated movies are also really good. I'm still shocked from when they revealed that he was never supposed to be bitten by that spider. The way they did it was so impactful. The tone of the movie was so light at the beginning even when the villain came it was still all good and then it just escalated like crazy.

u 11 moI lean towards yes. I'm personally burned out with them for the most part. Other than that though, I think they're dealing with the same issue that many other movies are dealing with: budgets that are entirely too big, thin and weak stories and writing, too much reliance on effects (if applicable), under-talented actors, and shallow and unintelligent characters. Among other things.

11 moI was with it in the beginning, and i remain with it in concept. However, they went to pot fairly quickly. Nobody is actually interested in showing respect for the source material and long time fans. They’re not even interested in making a quality product at this point. They’re just cashing checks, especially Disney and the MCU. They’ve become the McDonald’s of filmmaking. It doesn’t have to be good as long as there are millions of idiots willing to consume it. Ell oh ell!

11 moI used to like the genre but in that last 10 years or so I feel that we the audience have just been pummeled with a never ending stream of them and their never ending parts , sequels and episodes and that’s ruined it for me. Every time I see another one about to release I add it to my mental list to avoid

11 moI think super hero movies are trying to bring comic books to life. And comic books were written for children. They're basically morality tales like Greek and Norse myths. Heroes and villains. Struggles and triumphs. Good and evil. Love and betrayal. Greed and sacrifice. Simple stuff. They're just for fun. Shut your brain off and don't question the massive plot holes or phony pseudo science. Just watch shit blow up for 2-3 hours. It's entertainment not art, LOL.

11 moi don't mind a superhero. i think modern superheroes have embraced the comic side of an alternate reality in a way that doesn't cater to the public audience that doesn't or hasn't ever read a comic. it's too fictionalized out of the realm of possibility.

11 moI think they are now but back in day they were cool sometimes.
I just think they need cool story unique fight scenes and relatable Protaganist.
Like a regular human as the hero, who faces challenges we can relate to, and develop resilience.
A great message for modern time

I've seen kick-ass though I wasn't exactly a fan.
11 moI think what makes them "lame" to me is that there is too many of them. I feel like I'm watching the same movie over and over again, just with a little differences in story for the character or characters involved, but the formula is the same.
00 ReplyHmmm… hard to answer because there is a definitely quiet large crowd of grownups who won’t openly admit they like those superhero’s of their childhood being made onto the big screen with R rated films.
Classic Batman and Superman will always be the influence for every other comic made onto film. ninja turtles was awesome too00 ReplyI like the Deadpool films because they're meant to be funny. Kinda like the X-Men ones. Don't really care for the others. X-Men are more systematic and there is a shared cause for all of them, as opposed to most other superhero crap where every single one of them has their own idiotic, contrived origin story.
00 ReplyPretty much, but i liked Ironman and the Captian America installments. Avengers wasn't shabby because it had Ironman in it. Not a fan of America boy but the first movie is a classic already and Wnminter Soldier fell right in line with the story. The premise IS lame but I kind of enjoyed most of them. I like RD, Jr.
00 Reply623 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Yeah they are lame, but they are a cash cow. Kids see the commercial, then they want to go see the movie. Their parents have to pay for a ticket for the kid and themselves, and after the movie the kids want to go by the toys. Another movie comes out and more movie tickets and toys are sold.
00 ReplyYes. I know what most of you think of Andrew Tate but his description of the movie is funny :)

00 Reply573 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. No. Only Western ones.
Mainly as they all have the same bullshit "America saves the world" propaganda.
But the Japanese and Korean ones tend to have some deep philosophy and social value messages that can be educational.
