Majority do it's progress, remember classical stuff wasn't classic during their time, Ancient Rome was Modern to them and that's how life works.

Progress will always be preferred and those who say they don't are ignorant to the modern privileges, nostalgic to a surreal Idealism example of people who never even lived in those times glorifying it yet knowing none of the reality how it was to live back then.

I don't see the connection. I much prefer classicism. But I much prefer our era , for the vast majority of things

So it's good to write sentences with pretty words like you do, it makes you sound intellectual. But avoid generalizations, that would be even better.

Avoiding generalizations is chaos, to base how things especially humans act on the alternative is taking the odd as the standard. Which if done would lead to no understanding at all. Science relies on going with the rule not the exception.

Hmm the connection is seen by the fact we reached this point, if let's say most preferred what they consider classicism then how'd we be convinced to modernise? Fashion is probably the best parallel, if majority didn't like the new clothes? Then we'd stuck to what would be considered today as dated dresses and suits.
Again there are exceptions within fashion like when it becomes trendy to go back, but if you think about it that could only happen if we've already moved forward.

It's fascinating how you manage to intellectualize the mundane – a real gift, though it sometimes sounds like you're dressing a pebble in a tuxedo.

Generalizations may serve in science, sure, but science also thrives on nuance, exceptions, and complexity. Without that, it becomes dogma rather than understanding.

And as for this supposed link between classicism and modernization – I'm not sure why you’re turning a simple matter of taste into some kind of sociological grand theory. No one here is proposing to impose classicism on society, we’re just talking preferences. Mixing it with fashion trends and historical progress feels… a bit like forcing puzzle pieces where they don’t belong.

Simple question do you think psychology is linked to our preferences and likes? If you don't then I have no point talking to you.
If you do, then you should understand my point and that it very much is complex if that's not the conservation or opinion you wanted then I guess I also have no point talking to you.

Also did I say exceptions don't matter? Nope. Just my point is directly aimed at what humans prefer in general so why would I bring exceptions into it? Then I'd be here all day listing off random cases where this don't apply that would suck and be besides the point.

Of course psychology influences preferences, that’s trivial. But that’s not what I was talking about – I was just stating a taste, not writing a thesis on the collective unconscious. You keep inflating a simple remark into something else entirely. If you want to turn every conversation into a lecture, that’s fine, but don’t pretend I was the one trying to make it that deep.

And as for exceptions – I never said you denied them, just that brushing them off as irrelevant is a bit lazy. Sometimes it’s precisely the exceptions that reshape the rule. Ignoring them may save you time, but it also saves you from nuance.

My opinions aren't nuanced they're blunt on purpose and that's not trivial in my view I personally find that topic very intriguing, if you don't then okay. Guess you just won't like my opinions, which is not a me issue I ain't changing myself for you so yeah.

They both have their charms.. But I ultimately prefer classicism.. I'm of the belief that humans were smarter back then, and put more ingenuity, and craft into what they were making.. Philosophers actually made plenty of sense, and it wasn't plastic like today's world.. Not to mention less government regulations when building things..
