I need something good to watch, but I want real recommendations. What’s a show or movie you’ve watched recently that you’d actually recommend?

It’s actually kind of old, and it’s a movie & series combo. I only found out about the movie after having watched the series. In hindsight, i would recommend watching the movie first because the series really builds on the character. So watching them in reverse order leaves the movie feeling a little unfinished.
There’s a movie from 2005 called “The Magician”. If it could be summed up, i’d say it’s as if Kevin Smith filmed a mockumentary about an ethical hitman. Ell oh ell! A bit of comedy, drama, action, and some really interesting dialogue exchanges.

In 2018, the series “Mr. Inbetween” picks up with our main character from the film, continuing in his strange but intriguing and compelling ways. The main character is portrayed by the same actor. So other than nearly fifteen years passing, the transition is smooth. The series episodes are unusual for a “drama” in that they are half-hour episodes. So it’s really easy binging fodder. It’s also much more than a drama. It’s definitely a genre bender.

I haven't watched TV or read a good book in such a long time but the first thing that popped into my head when you asked that was Fifty Shades of Gray I watched like 15 minutes of it and I read maybe like 20 pages of the book
And for me there was just something off I mean The scenes that I seen On TV They were okay but they were not great And the things that I've read in the book they were okay but they were not great they had many opportunities to just blow it out of the water And they didn't even Come close I don't think I mean it was okay but it wasn't what they made it into be I would like to make Another 50 Shades of Gray or something similar Or write a book like that but I would need a partner Because I want to bounce things off of them them
I just started watching a show called, Beat Bobby Flay, on the Food Channel. I'm impressed that he prepares and cooks foods he's never made before but almost always wins going against chefs, that actually pick the dish, because it's their specialty. I think you like cooking and trying new things? A lot of good recipes and it's fun to watch!
I've been watching the show the last thing he told me, its on apple I believe. I read the book and so far it seems like a pretty good adaptation.
"The last thing he told me "
I just finished “Shōgun” on FX/Disney+ and I’d 100% recommend it 😍
Stunning visuals, slow-burn political drama, and a really respectful take on Japanese culture. Every frame looks like a painting, and the performances (especially Hiroyuki Sanada) are insane.
For a movie, “Poor Things” blew me away: bizarre, artsy, funny, and visually gorgeous 🎨📽️

Castlevania and Castlevania Nocturne highly recommend both if you check them out do Castlevania first then Nocturne because Nocturne is a sequel.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword also a very good anime.
Black Clover is a classic
My status as an assassin obviously exceeds the hero's another good one and with the older classic anime style you don't see much of these days
A returner's magic should be special that's a good one the webtoon is also really good for it.
Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy another pretty good one.
Honestly the only movie that left a real impression on me in the past few years that it actually became one of my favourite movies is Passengers. If you haven't watched it before, it's a great watch, but that's just me. I liked the romantic aspect of it, and I liked the philosophical aspect of it.
If you do happen to have not watched it and decide to give it a shot, ignore the ratings rotten tomatoes gave it (30%) and letterboxd (2.9/5) and approach it with an open mind.
This is the best movie of all times you’ll love it 👍🏻

For a futuristic and intricate take on Braveheart, I'd recommend Westworld. It's about tech, human nature and liberation. Plus there's an out of tune piano playing, here and there. It's rather on the dark side though.
For a philosophical comedy in the afterlife, dealing with good and evil, karma and purgatory, or ethics and trolleys, I'd recommend The Good Place. Plus there are numerous mentions of Phoenix. AZ.
Nothing that came out recently. Rather a show that hit home a couple days ago after seeing the intro.
Great stories for parents to show/watch with their children even 40 plus years later.
Recently I found one of my favorite movies from 2008 starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane.
It's called Nights In Rodanthe. It's a romantic movie but not gushy.
I watched it 4 times over the weekend.
I have been recommending the movie „Bridge of Spies“ to people left and right. 🤔
No, it’s from 2015.
I haven't seen anything decent in years, but then again, I don't have much attention span for TV shows and movies.
Something has to be truly awesome for it to keep my interest.
Desperate housewives. Its well written with a good balance of humor and serious.
Let me know what you think 😄
I recently rewatched an older series called The Fall. I liked it once again. I also like Dexter a lot.
Yes, I wish it would kept going.
I have not watched a show since 1999. Id recommend not wasting your life watching shows
Everyone likes the books better... I always did. The comic books especially. Disney Marvel and Star wars is trash. I haven't had much time to read in the last 17 years though. Busy raising a family. We don't have much time on this planet. Spending time with people is better than watching stories of other people live their life.
And before you ask what happened the 10 years between 1999 and 2009 I spent them with my wife. Talking and living together without destruction until my father came over for Christmas and asked where my TV was. He was a cable guy. He took a TV out of his car and stole cable from the telephone poll. That was the end of my happy days. While I haven't watched TV it's all my wife does.
I watched Markiplier’s Iron Lung movie on YouTube recently. It was very good!
the man in the high castle
its ending is weird, but the rest of the show i liked a lot
Try Outlast on Netflix. It is only 8 episodes for the last season, but it is a very interesting show in my opinion.
@7Phoenix7 Watched it 4 times. "The Protege" Michael Keaton, Maggie Q, and Samuel Jackson
Flying High one and two, or Airplane one and two, to Americans.
There aren't many shows I watch to be honest, I like The Rookie but up to date with that and recommend watching that.
Farmer Wants A Wife Australia 2026 (it won't hit your shores yet, but maybe watch the USA version of 2026 then instead)
🤠
Or MAFS Australia (Married At First Sight Australia)
I watched The Notebook with my coworker when he and I travelled for work later week.
Recent Michael Jackson
Old school I watched last week Robin Hood w Kevin Costner
I’ve been watching WWII with Tom Hanks on history channel though it’s kinda tough to watch. But i’d recommend it.
A discovery of witches.
Or Outlander.
It's an amazing show and it talks about time travel so if that's something you enjoy its definitely worth watching.
I am streaming Big Sky on Hulu.
