For me it’s the 1970s 🎧
You get this insane mix: rock at its peak (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd), soul and funk (Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye), birth of punk (Ramones, Sex Pistols), early hip-hop, plus disco dominating clubs. Albums were crafted like artworks, not just singles. So many genres were either born, reinvented, or perfected in one decade.

The `60's!!! No question about it!! It was THEE MOST creative period in history!! We had the best music, t. v., movies and toys!! A VERY close second was the early `80's new wave movement!! I can't say much for the t. v. shows and toys but the music and most of the movies were fantastic until rap reared its ugly head in the mid `80's!! Except for a scant few bright moments, music and nearly all entertainment, has been taking a nose dive ever since!!

Ah, the why. In 1964 you can hear music starting to change. I listened to music from every year from 1920s through today. I just asked alexa while I was showering to play music from 1932 for example as I showered, changed and got ready. It was great to hear the music and hear it change through the years.

In 1964 modern rock started to take roots. It is still a mix of old and new sound but the shift is there. The music and lyrics become amazing and change everything. Great, great music. I listen to today’s music of course and may different genres but that was the best overall.
