Why Not Spanking Your Child Creates Intolerable, Lawless And Rebellious Adults In Society.

Introduction:

I'm writing this MyTake to express my strong opinions why child spanking is needed as children are growing up into adults in society.

Child spanking has a become a lost art in modern society and in some countries is illegal in particular western societies.

If child spanking doesn't come back quickly into parents child rearing tactics we as a society will be living among some of the most extreme narcissist individuals society will have to offer in the future.

You Created A Monster.

Children are at one point going to test their parents to see what they can get away with and if you as a parent just let little angry Johnny or cute Susie do whatever they feel like doing without consequences and don't spank that ass to let them know they aren't the boss of the household, they will grow up not only disrespecting you, but also teachers and staff members at school, police officers and their employer.

News Flash: Life doesn't work that way.

In Society there are rules, laws we have to follow wheather we like them or not to keep order and since you raised a rotten spoiled brat that thinks he can mouth off to school teachers, police officers and his employer and do whatever the hell he feels like doing and still get away with it since he's been doing it since childhood under your roof, you as a parent have failed your child and set him or her up for great failure and are heavily responsible for it to a certain extent.

Your child's employer isn't going to put up with your child lack of discipline, rebellion and coming to work 10 to 15 minutes late and taking forever to finish a task and if the employer brings it to your child's attention that he or she needs to be more responsible and your little brat doesn't like to be corrected and mouth off and gives a nasty attitude then your child will find himself without work either living with you in your basement at age 40 or sitting in prison for being a criminal to support himself.

Spanking Works.

I'm not advocating abuse at all of any kind towards your child, in fact I strongly denounce abuse of children!

Moreover, what I am pushing for is for parents to understand that physical punshiment does in fact work on children when they disobey constantly or misbehave.

I understand the famous concept of "Time Out" but I'm here to tell you implementing "Time Out" when your child is acting up like a devil doesn't work on children.

In fact Time Outs leads to your child growing up shooting up schools and malls murdering 17 people when he can't get a girlfriend, is rejected by a girl or can't get his way in life.

What works if for them is to experience physical pain with a belt with 5 to 7 firm lashes to their back or legs. *Don't hit the face or gentials.

Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, As do stripes the inner depths of the heart.

The Wisdom Of God Is Greater Than Your Stupidity And Arrogance.

I'm in awe how we little pathetic humans think we know more than the Most High.

You really think in your little finite human wisdom and knowledge you know more about parenting, military strategy, civics, economics etc than the Most High?

How cocky can you possibly be?

Should The Most High enrolle in your classroom to hear you speak, teach and take notes on what you have to say about what is the best method to raise children or do anything for that matter or maybe be God has to hear from the expert psychologists and read and study the recent scientific studies to gain a bit more knowledge on various subjects?

Isaiah 40:13-14: Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, Or as His counselor has taught Him? With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, And taught Him in the path of justice? Who taught Him knowledge, And showed Him the way of understanding?

Listen folks, God knew parenting is going to be difficult and it's extremely important parents raise their children right and according to God's wisdom in His word (Bible) and not the stupid wisdom of this world that leads to sorrow, regret and failure in a lot of areas of life.

Proverbs 13:24:

He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

Proverbs 22:15-16:

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Proverbs 29:15:

The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

Proverbs 19:18:

Chasten your son while there is hope, And do not set your heart on his destruction.

Proverbs 29:17:

Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.

Proverbs 23:13-14:

Do not withhold correction from a child,
For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell.

Ephesians 6:1-4:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Instead of teaching kids to fear you, causing them pain, perpetuating a cycle of violent where they may think it's okay to hit someone when they're bad since Mom and Dad hit me, maybe we should try teaching them not to expect punishment but how to avoid it? If you're not building a good rapport with your kids to the point where the only when you can get the message across that they're doing wrong is to thump them then that is how you know you're not parenting properly.

You can teach responsibility without spanking. You can teach respect and tolerance without spanking. You can teach patience without spanking. Time out may well be ineffective, but only because it's not used right. Your child is a little human being with their own mind and their own sense of dignity, talk to them, have conversations about right and wrong, teach them the importance of turning up to work on time or completing a task, but there is no need to degrade them and raise your hand to them.

What about the kids with ADHD? Autism? The ones that can't sit still, that sometimes can't help being loud or brash or are too distracted to fully complete a task? What kind of message does that send to them? Normalising violence in any form, especially with children is not okay.

I never said they had to be sweet. You can be stern and authoritative without shouting or hitting. We shouldn't be teaching them to fear punishment as the only reason not to do something, teach them why it's wrong so they can make the right moral choices themselves or you're depriving them of a vital skill

thd old testament is old, the new testament is new. as jesus is the new law of forgiveness. i treat my children how i want to be treated. i let natural consequences take over. i discipline using more creative methods than abuse. physical abuse doesn't teach much. natural consequences teach intelligence and wisdom. another thing is, discipline no longer requires punishments because Christ took our punishment and shame away, what is left is understanding, empathy, and teaching gently.

I didn't even finish reading all of the take because I know for a fact as a parent that it's bullshit.
I've never had to hit my child.
I give him a timeout.
If he won't sit still, I sit with him and we talk about why he is in timeout.
Then he has to explain to my why what he did was wrong before he can get out of timeout.
I give him a hug and he goes back to playing.
If the time out isn't going well then he might have his favorite toy taken away until he corrects his behavior.
That's what works.
That's the truth.
Hitting your kids only teaches them that it's okay to hit others when you're frustrated.
A lot of the time when you hit them they don't even understand what they did wrong, all they learn is to fear you.
My son is a very sweet, intelligent boy.
I will never regret taking the time to give him timeouts rather than hitting him.
I'd rather he trust and respect me than fear me.

Okay let's stay calm. First of all : I disagree. With everything.

1- you're contradicting yourself :

These are your own words? Do I need to add anything?
I'd just like to say that if it becomes more and more illegal, it's probably because there are professional people who considered spanking as a harm for children. Because this is beating in fact.

2- I live in France. Many child aren't beaten and thankfully, we're not all thief/murderer/part of a gang. Actually, I might be wrong but I think people starting to do too much stupidities is actually because of too absent parents.

3- It harms!!! Both physically and emotionally!! You raise your kid in pain and fear, do you know how traumatic it must be? Obviously he won't do anything bad but I doubt he'll ever visit you when he'll have left home!!

4- Just some examples: we're 5 kids in my family. We've never ever been beaten (we eventually received a few slaps but it's rare). We all never had problems at school because we disrespected teachers or had bad marks. Actually, I'm very shy so I wouldn't even dare say something controversial to a teacher. I always had good marks, except in maths when I was young. And even then, my dad spent time with me explaining me what I didn't understand and Everytime I had better marks. He never had to use a freakin belt on me!!
My 14 yo bro. He's the most annoying of us. Actually he might be the one who received the most slaps. He's often overexcited, doing stupidities bla bla bla. But that's at home, he has great marks, a good behavior in class and never disrespected a teacher! And when I say he's making stupidities, I mean that he's always annoying with my siblings and I and stuffs, but he never smoke, drank and those stuffs. None of us did (I don't even drink for personal reasons). My three other siblings are like us, respectful and I have to admit I don't know much about their grades but I've never heard they had bad marks. And not a single time our parents had to use a belt or anything. We were raised in love, authority but never with fear.

Now consider your MyTake my opinion will probably sound foolish to you but I believe children beating is a huge mistake and I'd even say a crime.

Spanking is not the same as beating. That’s like saying that taking a prescription drug that’s been prescribed to you at the prescribed dose is doing drugs. They sound the same, but are fundamentally very different, like labeling one as bad just because it sounds bad. Apparently according to most psychs and childcare specialists spanking is the worst possible thing you can do to a child. It shows them that violence is an acceptable way to show your anger. 9/10 a problem child has been hit at some point or more likely repeatedly. I was spanked A LOT as a kid. In fact, it still traumatized me to this day. It made me fear and hate my parents. I got into bad crowds, hardly came home and later as an older teen left. I ended up not wanting to be around my parents and that was the main reason. They never talked with me when they got mad, never gave me an out until grounding me later
I'm a parent now. 2 kids and will NEVER hit them. Which is what spanking is
And you know what? My kids have received the kindness award for 3 years at school, are well received by other parents and teachers and are active members in the community.

Yes, spanking works. I know that. Anyone who has been spanked probably knows that.

But I'm sure there are easier methods of discipline? At least less painful methods? At least being controlled and measuered in your use of spankings, such as how you said 5-7 and only on the back of legs, is better than simple spanking however you see fit. When I hear the word spanking though, a limited and held in check disciplinary action is not what comes to mind.

Spanking applies to many methods of punishment, most of which work, but most of them are also a lot more than is needed.

I agree I know so many kids as young as 3 who don't get spanking or have never gotten spanking and there are horrible kids they don't listen to anyone call you curse words and do whatever the hell they want and the kids I know who do get a good ass whooping sometimes they are respectfull and care about others

My grandmother who is a wise woman said do not hit your children.
Discipline can be done without hitting them.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. To hit them is part of temptation to sin and to cause yourself to be angry quick and cause them to be angry too which will make them sin more. Remember the verse, be slow to anger, it means no hitting.

I agree with this. As a kid who was spanked, a lot, I’m NOT psychologically scarred or anything stupid like that. I’m just fine. I don’t hit people out of anger as a result or anything. I think it was the best thing that could have been done for me as a kid, and I really appreciate my parents for doing it.

A child acting out is probably due to the parent spoiling the said child and never telling them 'no' or using other methods of proper discipline, bad behavior is learned, it's not natural.
