How do you feel about kids/teens having sex?

I was sheltered growing up and was not allowed to hang out with guys alone. My mom and step dad were so against my sibs and I having sex they regularly gave us talks as well as discussed the possible consequences of having sex. They even threatened to put us put if we got pregnant before 18.

At the time I didn't understand why they were so against it and as a result I was also scared to have sex. My first time was when I was 20, after my sophomore year of college.

However now I understand why they were like that. Kids can't handle pregnancy or STDs alone. They're going to ask someone for help, even if it's not the parent. And if the kid does get pregnant/gets someone pregnant then they add burden that didn't need to be there. I plan on adopting some of my parents lessons for when I have to talk to my own kids about this.

Honestly I'd say having sex after 18 is okay because you're not too young to be stupid but you're still young enough to gain real life experience and I think sex experience is better to have young and be a healthy adult than to be an adult freaking out about being a virgin

I dunno, I had sex for the first time at 16. I’d just hope my kids don’t do it too young or too old. Like 17+ will be my exception, but I’d be a damn hypocrite lmao

I think as long as a teen is safe about it, then it's fine. I'm just gonna tell my kids to wait to be in a relationship where they're in love for their first time. Whether that happens when they're 16 or an adult, it's fine with me

Agreed. My health teacher this year told us about a student at another school she taught at, who got pregnant at twelve years old and gave birth to twins over the summer. They'll be in kindergarten her senior year and it is so not good.

I think they at least need to finish high school before having sex and should really wait longer depending on how mature/responsible that person is.
