I really want a baby via Sperm Donor. Is it better to get this by someone you know since it costs less or through an actual Sperm Bank?

I'm 26 and I've decided when I'm done with my Master's in Psychology. I want to have a baby. I don't have a boyfriend, but I've wanted kids for a while now. I already know the responsibilities both financially and how to take care of child is going to be. Taking care of my nephews and niece growing up, gave me an idea and it is hard. But I'm ready for a family of my own.
I did my research on Sperm Banks and it's thousands of dollars in the United States. Even for shipping and I live in the U. S. I have a couple of guy friends that are willing to donate their sperm to me because they know how important this is to me. However, if I go this route I want a legal contract stating that they are not required to be in the child's life, child support is off the table and full custody of the child belongs to me. Which both of my friends were glad to hear this and understand this. I'm just at a cross roads of which way to go. Tips? Suggestions?

Hello! I'm married to a psychology student getting his PhD. Personally from what I've learned through him working with kids. He diagnoses them with autism n such. I also have a 10 month old.. Anyways Honestly to me it would be better if you found a friend or got to know a stranger and learned deeply his background. Mental disorders can be hereditary as you well know. Same with knowing any medical problems that run in someone's family. Like cancers etc.

Another option is... If you don't care all that much and just want a baby you can very well just find a very hot guy fuck him around your fertile times and have a high chance beautiful babies. Or just someone really smart.

I would go with an anonymous donor through a sperm bank. It’s the simplest route. Someone you know, even if they sign their parental rights away, might change his mind in the future and try to be part of the child’s life complicating things. Also, depending on the state you live in, sperm donors can have certain legal rights if they want to take you to court. It’s less messy when everything is completely anonymous.

Look, we hear in general only the 'weird' stories about the 'known donor' route. You hardly hear about the times it works out wonderfull for all involved. I had the privilidge to help lesbian friends this way and we took care of legal and medical issues. Make sure you do the same, and save yourself thousands of dollars and an unhappy child that can't easily access his biological roots.
