When ur a kid, you can't do what you want. Makes sense, ur parents gotta protect you.

When ur a pre teen, no one understands you, u get blamed for bullied, or ur parents misunderstand an important thing about you, or reject your identity. it sucks. but you deal with it and still love your parents. and try to be a good kid.

when ur a older teen, you think people are starting to understand you, then they dont. you learn new things about the world. what you soon realize is all the cultural drama taking place. and u and your parents are on opposing sides of it. and its not just that. there's conflict within the same group. for example, and u could be a conservative teen and ur conservative dad is tough on you to listen to democrat teacher and not be rebellious to politically correct teacher, but then also get mad when you disagree with his views. if ur liberal black buddies give u a n word pass, nope, he still gon be mad and say it doesn't matter what your friends say it more complicated than that. and you try to be i na youth subculture ur parents look at you weird like your a alien.

when you graduate and become a eldest teenager young adult, your mom and dad still aren't accepting your identity. they try to take your youth culture from you. you may have disinterested, nihilistic, edgy, jaded GenX parents that won't hear your side and tell you you philsohopize too much and you need to go drink beer or smoke weed or have casual sex in a safe way. but u could be a GenZ teen that philosophiszes and wants to be careful and live a happy young life, and the GenX parent mijsunderstands that as being a trouble maker or a good intentioned trouble maker.
