We'd obviously use other species than human for hosts and seeing as we all started that way, we'd be differently built to fit the requirements to birth ourselves like that and to get close enough to an animal to inject our parasitic babies without being killed in the process. I know with today's technology it would be easier, but we would've had to do it for thousands of years before now and still be able to survive as a species.
