My daughter 14 1/2 and son 12 1/2… we cuddle often and talk often. she likes boys since 10? Boy crazy and full of drama … still wants love, care from us. we went out as mother and daughter yesterday (we do it weekly)… this is the time when she feels free to share with me. I also talk to her about life, future, families, love… it’s our time and she knows I’m always there for her. When she needs her alone time, she gets it as well. I told her, she still has a few yrs… that we need to work together to bring her to become a strong, confident young adult. The importance of budilging self respect, self identify, the ability to chose correctly with friends, career… life passages… and I said to her… She will have to do the same for her future children… etc… love, guidance never stops… my arms and doses more will always be open for her amd my son. they know this very well… she came to me last night… that she is so much happier lately… I smile and said… that she should be… Tbey still sometimes come to our bed or in the livingroom couch, to cuddle and I always rub their back and scratch their head a little… kiss their cheeks… they will always be our babies…but we must help them strengthen their wings/feet to be strong so that they can fly away and form an even healthier roots of their own.
I haven't given birth to my own kids yet, but I'm a godmother to 9. And I have nieces and nephews. My youngest Godson is 7 and when I visit with him, he always snuggles up next to me. He's been doing that since he could walk. He gets right up under my arm and burrows himself against my side. And he'll just play his game or watch TV. His little sister is the same way. She's 2 and she climbs all over me until she finds her comfort spot, and then she goes to sleep lol. My niece is 10 and she loves to snuggle with her mom (my sister). Even my 15 yr old nephew will every now and then go lay in his mom's bed for a few. I feel like it differs with each kid.
Enjoy it while it lasts. My sons stopped wanting to sit on my lap around 7yo, but they still cuddled with mom until around 10. My daughter stopped cuddling both of us around 13, when she started liking boys.
Me and my mom went through a hate stage. And it never really went away. But no matter what, I still valued the time I could spend with her when she genuinely wanted to spend time with me. I was her health care provider, and whenever I was done with the work I would play monopoly with my mom and then we would cuddle while watching old tv shows.
Your kid will most likely go through the same phase every kid goes through. They will probably get mad at you and distant and maybe say they hate you, or worse.
But don't give up. Don't smother them, just let them know you are still there. Because no matter how old a kid gets, or how much they say they hate their parents.. they will always need you. They will always love you.
And when something bad happens to them or something scares them, you will be the first person they think of.
Your babies, will always be your babies. That will never change.
I dont have kids but I defo did stop sleeping with my parents or like kissing them on their foreheads goodnight, after when my sisters started growing up, since they're younger than me they used to get more attention and so i eventually stopped, but one of my sisters is like 13 and still does it and the other one (youngest one) whos 12 has stopped too
I stopped giving her cuddles when I was around 12-17, but I started back up again and give her more cuddles than before. She’s my rock ❤️ I love her and I thank her everyday for being there for me.
It all "I'm adult & independent" until shit hits the fan... my stepson's in his 30's and still needs cuddles from time to time. As do WE ALL if you ADMIT it!
Well, I don't have a family of my own. But when I stopped cuddling was at the age of 12. I come from a family of non-affectionate people, only my mother was more affectionate, that's as far as I can recall.
