Am I considered a bum?

So I don't have a job, I get VA disability. Can't work even if I wanted to. Some of my family wanted me to work but if I do my VA check would get taken. It made me feel like I was a bum in a way. I feel very happy and free honestly. I get to travel, do my hobbies, spend more time with some other family, and enjoy myself. Seems like some people make having a job their main purpose in life. Nothing wrong with jobs, I had several in the past. I always stay preoccupied with things throughout the day, but some family (like 3 people) just made me feel a bit bad in a way.

Disabled Vet is not the same as a "bum".
People who look at you side ways are either dumb or don't understand.
My dad stopped working in his.. 40's? 100%. He's not a bum. He served, got fucked in the process, and is using his rightfully deserved benefits.
Ignore the criticisms of others.

People talk about how they support Vets and that we should be doing a better job, then turn around and look at the FEW who actually WERE ABLE to qualify as if we're playing the system, lucky, or some shit.

Well if you get a disability benefit that I am assuming it could be difficult for you do many of the jobs that would be worthwhile and provide a sustainable living. I had a friend who got social security disabilty benefits and she felt frustrated too. She could do some jobs for miminal pay but it made it difficult to do anything fulltime or too career focused and there was only so much she could do with her disability. All I can say is you need to do what you feel is right for you, even if others make you feel bad about it, they are not the ones that have to live your life or make a living for you, only you can do that.

Well, I wouldn't call you a bum, no, you are actively doing things in your free time, according to your testimony, so you aren't exactly being lazy in totality and doing nothing. You chose to take the VA disability and abide by the rules of it, or have it taken away. Whether you want to get a job, work, and loose it, is up to you. But, I wouldn't call you a bum, since the word bum suggests laziness and doing notning all the time, which isn't you.

Exactly like I don't mind having a job but I worked hard for this VA stuff. I get good benefits and what not. Yeah I feel if I sat around all day doing nothing I'd lose my mind.

Yeah I got injured in service. I have nerve damage, feet, knee, back and heart problems and I'm only 24. It sucks to have stuff like this go on but I deserve it after being put through so much from the military.

Like I said, I'm sorry you had to go through all that, and I hope that your issues are healed as much as possible, and all is worked out. I wouldn't say you deserved it, but, it happened. The least they can do for you is pay your medical bills and give you a living wage.

When I was collecting unemployment I had the opportunity to work part time but if I did I would lose my unemployment check which was a little more than the part timer job would have paid. I passed on the job.
You served your country so you deserve to get a check from the VA. Don't feel guilty about this and do not listen to people that think you should be ashamed.

Well I had a large lump sum of money and I receive 100% and get that monthly income. I still live with my mom at the moment but I plan to get a home soon or build one.

Bruh you'd be stupid to go and start working then, there's so much you can do, you can literally live a life, the rest of society is stuck enslaved to the government, if you are gonna give it up cause some jealous idiots talked shit, then I don't know what to tell you, you don't even necessarily have to work, create a business, it's my plans but money is an issue it's why I haven't progressed in my plans but you can definitely do it, create a website and run a business from home, in society owning a business is better than a job and no one can call you a bum

God you’re so lucky you’re rated at 100%. I started out at 30%. Then had to reapply and request an increase and was raised to 60%.

It pisses me off. I have a buddy who never deployed (I did) and who had no physical problems get 100%. It’s such a fucking game. Fuck the VA.
